(work): +31 (0) 24 361 1856 E-mail: [email protected] Short Biography Pascale Peters holds a position as Associate Professor at Radboud University Nijmegen [Institute for Management Research (IMR/GAINS)]. In 2000, she received her PhD at the Faculty of Social Science, University of Tilburg. From 1999 to 2000, she was a researcher in the field of health care at the Dutch Institute of Health Care Research (NIVEL). In 2000, she also held a position as a lecturer at the Leisure Studies Department, Tilburg University. From September 2000 to December 2004, she worked as a post doc researcher in the field of teleworking at the Interuniversity Center for Social Science Theory and Methodology (ICS) and coordinated the large scale NWO Research Program entitled ‘Time Competition’. She was located at the Sociology Department, Utrecht University. As of December 2004, she has been working at the Radboud University Nijmegen where she publishes and supervises PhD- students, master- and bachelor students on topics such as the (gendered) labour-market participation, work-life balance, boundary management, sustainable HRM (employability, workability and vitality) and the contemporary and sustainable organization of work, in particular, home-based telework, New Ways to Work, and working carer support. Description research field There is a need to complement existing scholarship on macro-level flexicurity by adopting Sustainable Human Resource Management (SHRM) policies and practices (employability, workability and vitality). In the current global and dynamic markets and institutional contexts, many employers can no longer guarantee the ‘job for life’. Flexible work contracts have become more common and individuals’ pro-active work behaviors are more emphasized. This implies individuals to ‘take ownership’ for their performance and careers in new and increasingly flexible employment relationships. Organizing for ‘new security’ through SHRM is acknowledged to be a collective responsibility involving many stakeholders, demanding radical system changes, and new forms of leadership at all levels. These notions form the starting point for my research aimed to contribute to contemporary SHRM debates, including themes such as proactive work and career behaviours and leadership in flexible work environments.
