Kaspars Klavins (Dr. hist.) studied at the Latvian University (Latvia), Hamburg, Munich and Münster Universities (Germany) and CEU (Hungary), and also did courses at Salzburg University (Austria), Heidelberg University (Germany), and at Montpellier University (France). He has been a Visiting Professor at the Roosevelt University (USA) (the Fulbright Scholarship), a Research Associate at Monash University (Australia), a Research Associate at the University of Reading (Department of Archaeology) (UK) and Visiting Professor at the University of Münster (Germany). Dr. Klavins currently is a Professor of History and Cross-Cultural Management at the Emirates College of Technology in Abu Dhabi (United Arab Emirates), a Professor at Riga Technical University (Faculty of Engineering Economics and Management) (Latvia) an Adjunct Research Associate at Monash University (Australia).

Dr. Klavins is the author of 8 scientific monographs, a number of chapters in different books and fundamental historical source publications, as well as the author of many scientific articles (including articles in English, French and German). He has written on medieval history, the history of modern ideas, conflict resolution, German studies, ecology and musicology. At the moment Dr.

Klavins is doing a deeper research on Arabic and European cross-cultural relations and interpretations of Arab culture in Europe.

Dr. Klavins has taken part in many international scientific conferences and congresses, where he has also been a section leader (including France, Egypt, Turkey, China, UK and the USA). Dr. Klavins is a member of European Science Foundation (UK) and Seventh Framework Programme (Catalonia, Spain) projects. He has opened his own publishing house in Austria (Verlag Kaspars Klavins, Salzburg) and was admitted as a Fellow in the Royal Society for the Encouragement of Arts, Manufactures and Commerce (RSA) in 2009 (UK).

On the initiative of Dr. Kaspars Klavins, an international conference was organised at the Emirates College of Technology in Abu Dhabi on the subject: “Arab Civilization and its Impact in Europe” (on 12th and 13th November 2014).
