safety legislation, standards, Codes of Practice, company procedures/processes and information gleaned from various safety web sites and networks.

Conduct safety training, induction and verification of competency (VOC) training with employees, supervision and staff. Record and carry out regular gap analysis to ensure training needs are met and updated regularly.

Conversant in UGL, BHP, Alcoa, FMG and Rio Tinto Safety Management systems and procedures.

Perform/participate in regular safety reviews including fatal risk prevention strategies, the site risk and environment registers, safe working instructions.

Carry out regular and meaningful site inspections and audits, ensuring genuine engagement with workers. Encourage and offer suitable advice in an appropriate manner to the circumstance should there be any areas of safety concern.

Carry out regular internal and client initiated audits in line with ISO 9001, 14001 and AS/NZS 4801 and report findings to the Quality Team in Sydney.

Train crews in client based mandatory safety training and liaise with the client contractor safety teams.

Populate and present weekly toolbox meetings ensuring any issues are responded to and addressed as soon as practicable with results communicated back to the team.

Conduct investigations and gather relevant evidence in response to any incident, injury, near miss or damage reports. Participate in more protracted ICAM incident/accident investigations both internally and with the client. Although not formally ICAM trained, has led investigations at Alcoa on several occasions and active participant in others.

Participate in relevant internal and client HSSE meetings and programs.

Communicate HSSE performance and initiatives. Assist in ensuring the Visual Management Boards operated on site where maintained to reflect the true performance of the team.

Participate in morning prestart meetings in the relevant area of responsibility.

Provide graphical and verbal feedback to the Project Manager and HSSE Manager for daily, weekly & monthly reports.

health and safety objectives.

Liaise with the Regions HSSE Manager on a regular basis to seek advice and to obtain information on safety related issues as they arise.

Liaise and encourage a good working relationship with client safety co-ordinators to ensure that UGL are conforming to client standards and work out solutions if there are any discrepancies.

Provide any support/assistance necessary to ensure proper management and rehabilitation of injured workers in participation with the Perth based Health Service Team.

Mentor and direct Safety Representatives, consciously allowing an active input into inquiries and general safety discussions, including HSSE Safety Rep meetings.
