– David Physick, Glowinkowski International.Education2011 – 2015 University of Durham Masters in General Engineering (2:1)

Specialised in Mechanical EngineeringElectric Gearbox Project- Redeveloped conventional series hybrid-electric bus powertrain.- Reduced the number of components and weight by half; and increased efficiency.

Demonstrator – Designed and manufactured an operating prototype.- Two rotor axial machine, both rotors adopting 4-quadrant drives.- All parts and assemblies of the prototype were developed through SolidWorks CAD software.- FMEA completed on CAD model using the Pugh decision-matrix method, and adjustments made.- Generated comprehensive workshop drawings following UK GDT standards.- Used hand calculations to ensure correct material selection (e.g. allow angular velocity ≤2500rpm).- Modular manufacture for ease of repairs and corrections.- Laser cutting and 3D printing implemented where possible to easily reproduce components.- Currently being showcased in Durham University Engineering Department.- Future students are to continue the project’s development due to its success.

Programming MatLab – Modelling heat recovery and space heating system, FEA, Dynamic systems modelling.C++ Programming – Rover Hatchback simulation from 0-60mph, Voice recorder and playback.Python – Battleships game, Object-orientated programming (OOP).JavaScript – Virtual cash register.HTML5 & CSS – Online photo album.Abaqus – Geometric non-linearity finite-element analysis coursework.SolidWorks – Automatic field gate project, Karman vortex street CFD research project.LaTex – Project reports written in this language over the past four years.

2005 - 2011 Ilkley Grammar School Extended Project Qualification (A*)I analysed the advantages and disadvantages of the delta wing, specifically looking at the angle of attack, drag and stability it provides; and whether it could be efficient for commercial aircraft.

A-Levels Further Maths (A*) Maths (A*) Physics (A)AS Level Chemistry (A) 11x GCSEs

Engineering Experience2014 Visions Learning Trust Engineering & Maths Teacher

- Taught Engineering and Maths for two weeks at a University Technical College to learners from ages 14 to 18 – planned lessons and learnt how to present a rounded and captivating lesson.- Observed other teachers leadership styles and analysed how different age groups reacted. Skills: Leadership, Communication, Analytical approach, Flexible forecasting and planning.

2014 Jet2.com Power plant & Tech Services Engineer- Remotely monitored turbine data/blade life and mechanical malfunctions; to ensure compliance with relevant H&S protocol and legislation. Skills: FMEA, Product lifespan, Legal obligations, Fracture mechanics, Methods to reduce cost.

2013 – 2014 Cummins Engineering Consultant - Requested to join the project due to previous involvement with Cummins.

- Part of a team of five engineers commissioned to design a system to utilise waste heat from ten test engines. We developed a space heating system for local buildings and offices.- Required to submit frequent feasibility reports, presentations and forecast data. - My specialist area was the simulation and system mapping of the product (MatLab). Skills: Objective planning, Business forecasting, Computing, Teamwork.

2010 Praxair Laboratory Engineer- Destructively tested GE, Siemens and Rolls Royce turbine blades for defects. Skills: Quality Control, Scanning electron and Optical microscopes, Testing techniques.
