The “CORKa” chair appears as a model that shows a union of materials from the ranks of recycling and renew-able transformation, combined with a practical and inno-vative design.

It fits into the context in the category of “sustaining chairs” because it has elements that provide an easy construc-tion for the chair, with parts that can be standardized and quick assembly.

On the other hand this model is not just trying to make use of materials from processing or recycling of raw materials, but rather than be a part to serve only a function it has a friendly appearance, it´s funny and colorful.

Its structure is made primarily of two main blocks from ag-glomerated cork, with the addition of pieces of wood that provide basically the profile of the chair.

Excels mainly by its simplicity and by the geometric lines smooth and rounded, referring to an idea of relaxation and ergonomic quality.

Peças intermédias de separaçãop entre a madeira/Intermediate parts between the timber

The junction of the two materials is made only by a fastening process between the tim-ber and the cork blocks by a inner shaft, thus giving source to a light but strong piece, simple but robust.

Despite being a model of chair that highlights environmental issues and sustainability, it offers a particularly versatile and attractive design.

In this model it’s presented the possibility to introduce patterns, textures and colors in to the cork blocks by pigmentation and projection techniques, which give to this chair a greater variety of models, themes or symbolism and it also may become a versatile and iconic chair.
