The package, consisting of punching die, product to separate and punch counterpiece, is pushed between the driven punching cylinders and through the machine and punched out. The empty punching knife (without counterplate) is pushed back through the passage and loaded again. It is also possible to carry out the next punching process from the other side by changing the feed direction. For safety reasons, the operating knobs for switching the feed direction are located on the side of the machine.

The punching cylinders are fully covered and equipped with movable safety flaps which automatically change the rotational direction of both punching cylinders, as soon as a foreign object is caught between the punch package and the top cylinder.

The throughput height for the sorting product is infinitely adjustable up to 85 mm using threaded spindles. We are happy to provide other throughput heights on request.

M R P (MEDIPACK RAPID PACKAGING) SYSTEM

Development

This system has been developed to save costs when packaging larger numbers of low cost components. The fact that the manual output using pre fabricated pouches or blisters is about 200 units per hour com-pared with the MRP System with an increased output of about factor 5 to 10, makes the MRP System interesting for production quantities of approx. 100'000 to 3 Mio. units p.a.

Position

The MRP system is positioned between the traditional blister packaging method with sealing lids to be sealed on a manual sealing machine and the automatic blister-forming-, filling- und sealing machines. Also compared with prefabricated medical pouches the MRP system is a veritable alternative as the total costs (packaging material plus the actual costs for packaging) can be reduced.

Advantages

- appreciably higher packaging performance (approx. factor 5 to 10) with consequent lower packaging costs.

- appealing packing appearance as blisters and sealing lids have the identical shape. - modest investment costs. - short time to market.

METHOD Step 1: Sealing of the multi blister foil A deep drawn multi blister-foil (e.g. PETG blue tinted) is sealed, sometimes with printed sealing lids, be-fore it is stamped to single blisters on a separate stamping machine. The size of the blister and the subse-quent packaging performance depend largely on the size of the product. The packaging system is laid out such that blisters can be manufactured economically and that they will fit the sealing tool optimally.

Step 2: Punching out the individual blisters

The work one adjusts on the Cylin-der punching machine

The sealed multi blister foil is put into the punching tool

On the multi blister foil ,put a punch-ing counter plate

The package is pulled and punched

out between two rotating punching

cylinders by the machine.

The punching counter plate will know removed and the individual Blister taken out from the punching tool

Prefabricated blister foils

Blisters are produced under clean room conditions and checked individually for air- and foreign material particles before being packed in double PE –protective pouches. Materials like PETG, PS or PP in thickness of 0.25 to 1,2mm and in colours like blue tinted, green tinted or transparent are standard.

Tyvek lids

Sealing leads of coated Tyvek 1073 B SBP 2000 (e.g..) can be used in the following alternatives: - as cutting, unprinted - as cutting, printed in one- or multi colour (Offset Method) - from roll, unprinted with the possibility to print with a thermo transfer printer using a special tape.

Performance

Our estimates are based on the realistic assumption that sealing with subsequent punching of approx. 2 to 3 prefabricated foils per minute can be achieved. With a 12-cavity foil one arrives at a performance of approx. 1500 units per hour.

Application

This system has been installed for the following sectors: - suture material - dental components - medical instruments - inhaling apparatuses - pharmaceuticals - surgical blades - Implants with inner and outer blister - sterile one-way parts in plastic material

Since the packaging is being done in a clean room the punching operation of the multi blister can be carried out also outside the clean room. The sealing machines can also be offered with a corresponding qualification.
