Cyprus was a province of Venice. The influence in our culture is obvious having too much elements to prove it up to now. Famagusta and Nicosia walls still are very well preserved and also the house of Queen Ekaterini Kornaros is still standing.

Apoel F.C. a Cypriot football team faced away the Portuguese team Porto F.C. on the 21st of October 2009 (2-1). Also, the teams will meet again, this time in Cyprus at GSP stadium, in Nicosia on 3rd of November, 2009.
