tEAM INTRODUcTION
D2 Motorsport is focusing on the young stars of future top level racing. We have two drivers
competing at the top level in Kartsport in New Zealand.
Formed in august 2007, D2 Motorsport set about providing ‘young guns’ in the local New Zealand
Kartsport scene the chance to reach their dreams in motorsport. D2 Motorsport aims to help
these talented young drivers fulfill their potential.
In a relatively short time D2 Motorsport has made big gains in Kartsport in New Zealand, it’s two
current drivers are well respected on and off the track. Team Principal, andrew Donohue, has
more than 20 years in the New Zealand Kartsport scene and is currently an Executive Member
of Kartsport Wellington and Kartsport New Zealand.
D2 Motorsport in its early days also supported many past top level senior Kartsport drivers.
Those that have gone before can now be found on hand for our younger drivers as support,
guidance and team mechanics.
D2 Motorsport has established a professional motorsport team that understands the importance
of a team environment, the challenges faced by business in todays economic climate, and the
importance of maximising the benefit from any marketing/sponsorship relationship.
The investment into D2 Motorsport makes you and your business one of the tEAM.

Summary: Josh has been sitting in a kart since he was two years old and eventually
got his first real drive at the age of just five. However, cadets can only
start racing at club level at the age of six so in the august of 2008 just
after his sixth birthday, Josh hit the race track for his first official race day.
Not surprisingly Josh came last and was left in dismay at the speed of the
older kids in his class. Within a year Josh was starting to push some of
these older kids and after another year found himself leading these same
kids across the finish line. Josh hasn’t looked back and is now a regular
front runner in any cadet field in the country.

Summary: Mirroring his brothers early days in karting, Ethan jumped into a kart for
his first race day just as he turned six. Ethan being the quieter one of the
two brothers has quickly become known as ‘the thinker’ with his ability to
sit and view the older racers and top karters in New Zealand then go out
and do it on the track. He has already started to push his older brother
along and the rivalry ensures every time the team hits the track, no one
gives an inch. Ethan is following the lead of his older brother and has
started to forge a name for himself on the cadet scene even though he is
one of the youngest in the field.

2012 REVIEW
D2 Motorsport has enjoyed a successful 2012 race season and wish to thank our sponsors and
partners for being an integral part of this team effort. We raced throughout New Zealand
(christchurch to Hamilton) managing to secure many race wins, overcoming a few tough days,
but importantly improving our performances overall.
January 2012 proved extremely successful with Josh and Ethan competing in the televised cIK
Trophy of New Zealand in Wellington. Josh featured at the front of the field and achieved plenty of
air time on TV 3 and Sky TV. The cadet Final was one of the best races over the weekend, the top
six crossing the finishing line less than a second apart! Josh was the finisher in sixth place having
been as high as third throughout the race and as far back as eighth. Ethan had engine trouble all
weekend and we only got it sorted for the final. Starting off 18 Ethan drove through to 10th but ran
out of laps to really start to push for a top six finish. Still Ethan was happy that when the engine
actually goes well he can do the business.
During Easter 2012, D2 Motorsport headed to the KartSport New Zealand National
championships in Hamilton. Only Josh competed at this event against the top 24 cadet drivers in
the country. Having set the pace during practice Josh was disappointed to find himself back in 12th
spot for the heat races. Not one to panic however, Josh worked his way through the field in each
race to start off 8 in the pre-final. again, things didn’t go Josh’s way and he ended up back in 11th
place to start the winner take all final. and would you believe it, a tangle up ahead on turn 1 meant
Josh had to take to the grass to avoid contact which immediately dropped him to 15th! But like a
true champion Josh picked them off one by one to get back to 7th by the chequered flag. a great
effort, but the team was left wondering what might have been.
There has been plenty of other on-track action throughout the year, highlighted in our drivers
achievements in their profiles, but also in addition to the action on track our 2012 campaign
included attending trade displays, sports club displays and motorsport displays promoting
Kartsport.
2012 TV cOVERagE
TV 1 cLOSE UP aRTIcLEan unexpected bonus from attending the KartSport New Zealand Nationals in Hamilton was an
article that appeared on TV 1’s close Up programme. It was a great story staring Josh and the
team and great for promoting kartsport.
cIK TROPHY OF NEW ZEaLaNDThis was shown on TV3 on May 27th. Josh featured at the front of the field and hence achieved
plenty of air time on TV 3 and Sky TV.

and viewing.

highlights of our season is a privately organised
cup Race between D2 Motorsport Sponsors.
It will be the one time in the 2012 season when

great opportunity for the whole team to meet
and enjoy a social event to be remembered!

always open to our sponsors throughout the
year. We give all our partners complete access
to our mechanic areas, pit area and general
team environment at any of the events and
welcome their attendance. Throughout any of
these events, we always have team members
on hand to explain any procedures or general
questions that may be asked.
Prize giving/Track announcers/Race
Programmes – Kartsport events are
concluded with prize giving which gives drivers
a chance to publicly thank sponsors. Bigger
Kartsport events are required to have
professional track announcers who
acknowledge driver sponsors throughout the

drivers sponsors.
