This is an introductory-course for the Interior Architecture Graduate Program. This design studio introduces students to the planning of interior environments, addressing both the contents of the environments and the process of interior space planning.

Identify and conceptualize installations that create mood and evoke emotion

Understand the relationship between the guests feeling while experiencing the interior spaces.

HUMAN PERCEPTION CHARRETTE

Learning Objectives

Students created a base template for a 5” x 5” open box by removing the front and back. Where they created a study models.

Study Models were created to convey a feeling, emotion and experience using different (lighting, color, textures, proportion) techniques.

The students had to take into consideration that one of the spaces in their Final Project (house/residence) must reflect the result of at least one of your 3D model Concepts.

Learning Objectives

Understand plagiarism in the Visual Arts specifically in Interior Design Projects

Gain a well-rounded understanding about how to translate a design inspiration into an original work.

Learn how to stay behind the line that separates the source of inspiration from the finished work.

BASIC DESIGN CONCEPT - ORIGINAL DESIGN

Students identified Design Principles & Elements of a Study Image presented

Base on Design Principles & Elements they chose 3 additional inspiration images related to the Study Image.

Students developed a DNA word for each image.

They developed a Design Concept Study Model Referring to the list of materials provided

Students took their Design Principles & Elements, Inspiration images & DNA words and Design Concept, and developed a physical 3D model out of the mate-rials list.

The students had to take into consideration that the 3D model resulting from their analysis and design process should be included in some way in their final project. It could be perceived as a piece of art, furniture, light fixture, structure, etc.

Learning Objectives

To understand and predict client necessities.

The student will develop an understanding of doing a client profile and what types of information must be collected and addressed.

Through various graphic techniques, the student will illustrate who the client is and describe the pertinent data.

CLIENT PROFILE

Using a grocery list, the students had to create and present a story supported by images about their client. This include a complete profile of each member of the family like appearance, interests, belief system, choice of car, clothes, food, etc.

From a supermarket grocery list, they had to identify clues like choice of paper, type of purchases, handwriting style, type of Store, etc. That gave the characteristics of their clients to create a detailed profile.
