President’s Message:
Lion President Don Fleming
As we begin September, our activities begin to increase. Schools are back in session and we will be doing vision screenings throughout our area. We have our own vision screening camera now which will make it easier. I encourage all of our members to learn how to operate the camera. This will help spread the coverage of this important activity.
Remember we have our Pasta Bingo on September 15, 2017 at the Doelger Center. We need your help to put on the event and we need to bring guests to increase participants for dinner and bingo.
There are also other activities in District 4C4 that you may want attend. Check your bulletin for additional information.
Membership growth continues to be an issue. Bring prospective members and let them see what we do.
Yours in Lionism
President
Don Fleming

Meet your Fellow Lions!
2
Each month we will be featuring Daly City Host Lions club members in a column titled “Meet you Fellow Lions.” This month we are featuring Lion Kikei Wong!
I am currently living in Daly City. I am a Recycling Coordinator at Republic Services, where I provide education and outreach to businesses to reduce the amount of waste going into our landfills. I am in a very happy relationship with my boyfriend, Ben, of 4 years.
Where did you grow up? I was born and raised Torrance, CA. It’s considered the South Bay of Southern California, so when I moved up here and people told me that South Bay referred to Santa Clara County, I was very confused!
Where did you go to school (high school/college? I attended the California Academy of Math and Science located in Carson, CA for high school and UC Davis for college.
If college, what did you major in? I majored in Environmental Science and Management with an emphasis on Ecology, Biodiversity, and Conservation. I’m very happy to be in the garbage/recycling industry and applying my major!
Who’s your favorite Superhero? I’m not really into to the traditional “Superheroes” but a few people I really look up to are my parents, my older brother, and Bill Nye the Science Guy.
Favorite song on IPOD/Phone? Moonlight Sonata by Beethoven
Favorite Sound? Nature
Least Favorite Sound? Crying children
Favorite thing to do in spare time? I like napping and playing video games online with my friends. Can eating be considered as a favorite activity as well??
Favorite foods? Too many to choose! My favorite food shifts depending on my mood and the season, but I can tell you that I dislike fruit altogether.
Favorite drinks? Hong Kong milk tea
INVITE A

The first membership meeting of each month is
our Invite a Guest Meeting. Just ask some-
one you know and see what were all about.

Lions Clubs International Code of Ethics
To Show my faith in the worthiness of my vocation by industrious application to the end that I may merit a reputation for quality of service.
To Seek success and to demand all fair remuneration or profit as my just due, but to accept no profit or success at the price of my own self-respect lost because of unfair advantage taken or because of questionable acts on my part.
To Remember that in building up my business it is not necessary to tear down another's; to be loyal to my clients or customers and true to myself.
Whenever a doubt arises as to the right or ethics of my position or action towards others, to resolve such doubt against myself.
To Hold friendship as an end and not a means. To hold that true friendship exists not on account of the service performed by one another, but that true friendship demands nothing but accepts service in the spirit in which it is given.
Always to bear in mind my obligations as a citizen to my nation, my state, and my community, as to give them my unswerving loyalty in word, act, and deed. To give them freely of my time, labor and means.
To Aid others by giving my sympathy to those in distress, my aid to the weak, and my substance to the needy.
To Be Careful with my criticism and liberal with my praise; to build up and not destroy.
Lions Clubs International PURPOSES
TO ORGANIZE, charter and supervise service clubs to be known as Lions clubs.
TO COORDINATE the activities and standardize the administration of Lions clubs.
TO CREATE and foster a spirit of understanding among the peoples of the world.
TO PROMOTE the principles of good government and good citizenship.
TO TAKE an active interest in the civic, cultural, social and moral welfare of the community.
TO UNITE the clubs in the bonds of friendship, good fellowship and mutual understanding.
TO PROVIDE a forum for the open discussion of all matters of public interest; provided, however, that partisan politics and sectarian religion shall not be debated by club members. TO ENCOURAGE service-minded people to serve their community without personal financial reward, and to encourage efficiency and promote high ethical standards in commerce, industry, professions, public works and private endeavors.
Lions Clubs International MISSION STATEMENT
TO EMPOWER volunteers to serve their communities, meet humanitarian needs,
encourage peace and promote international understanding through Lions clubs.
Lions Clubs International VISION STATEMENT
TO BE the global leader in community and
humanitarian service.

September Laughs How Many Children
Some newly married friends were visiting us
when the topic of children came up. The bride
said she wanted three children, while the young
husband said two would be enough for him.
They discussed this discrepancy for a few
minutes until the husband thought he`d put an
end to things by saying boldly, "After our second
child, I'll just have a vasectomy."
Without a moments hesitation, the bride retort-
ed, "Well, I hope you'll love the third one as if
it's your own."

Memorial Service
A farmer named Muldoon lived alone in the Irish
countryside except for a pet dog he had for many
years.
When his dog sadly died, Muldoon went to the
parish priest, saying: “Father Patrick, my dog is
dead. Could you possibly say Mass for the poor
creature?”
Father Patrick told the farmer: “No, we can’t have
services for an animal in church. But I’ll tell you
what, there’s a new denomination down the road,
and – no telling what they believe in – maybe
they’ll do something for your pet.”
Muldoon said: “I’ll go right now. By the way, do
you think $50,000 is enough of a donation for the
service?”
“Oh, why didn’t you tell me the dog was
Catholic??”
Cutting Class
“Jill,” a principal reprimanded the teenager he
caught sneaking around in the hall, “do you mind
telling me whose class you’re cutting this time?”
“Like,” the young teen replied, “uh, see, okay, like
it’s like, I really don’t like, think like, that’s really
important, y’know, like because I’m, y’know, like
I don’t get anything out of it.”
“It’s Mrs. Dull’s English class again, isn’t it?”
replied the principal smirking.
