On October 26, 2010, Mt. Merapi—Indonesia’s

most active and volatile volcano– erupted, initially

killing 32 people and sending more than 350,000

people fleeing to seek refuge in emergency shelters.

Two weeks after the first eruption, the volcano

continues to spew deadly pyroclastic flows that have

claimed at least 200 lives, according to CNN.
