STRENGTHENING YOUR SCHOOL’S SENSE OF COMMUNITY THROUGH DANCING

WHY DANCE?

DANCE FOR HEALTH

WHAT TEACHERS SAY ABOUT WORKING WITH US

WHAT DO CHILDREN LEARN THROUGH DANCING?

Dance is very popular amongst children and young people. It combines physical literacy with imagination and creativity and is a very useful element in devising cross curricula work.

Rachel captured the imagination of all our children age 4 - 7 years, she differentiated across the year groups appropriately, ensuring each child achieved. The whole school came together for a celebration of the day’s work, performing their dances in turn. Rachel was able to manage us all accordingly, and addressed staff and pupils effectively. I would highly recommend Rachel and The Dance Movement’s work in schools, as we felt we received excellent service and value for money.

TEACHER TRAINING Dance is a practical subject where learning best takes place through doing, we have found the best way for teachers to build their confidence in this subject is to put on their trainers and join in - so be ready to dance! Our dedicated dance artists can work with teachers over an afternoon, a day or once weekly over a term. We will share with you our approaches to structuring lessons, sourcing music and working creatively with the curriculum.

WHOLE SCHOOL DANCE DAYS Exploring subjects as a whole school is a way of coming together, building a sense of community and celebrating everybody’s achievements. Our dancers can visit your school to help all your students engage with cultural and world events, we have ready made days such as Harvest Festival, Diwali, Christmas & World Ocean Day. We can also work with you to create a day to suit your needs.

DANCE CLUBS PE & Sports Premium Funding can be used to set-up dance clubs for your students. This is a great way to provide an in-school opportunity for those students who really love dancing to take their experiences further.

CURRICULUM DANCE LESSONS We pride ourselves on the quality of our dance lessons and plans. We design these in line with your school topics and spend time with your teachers to tailor our lessons week by week to tie in with class learning.
