Data Center Services provides: 24/7 operations of the Data Centers located on the Mt. Washington
and East Baltimore campuses, including controlling physical security and facilities management of the Data Centers.
Timely processing of data, including backups on the various platforms housed within the Data Centers
The production and delivery of electronic and printed reports Control of the production environment through change management Monitoring of various systems.
Data Center Services is comprised of three services: Production Support, Operations and Facilities Management.
Production Support was created to bridge the process and procedural gaps between applications development, technical support, and operational areas for application implementation control and support services.
Production Support provides the following for identified production and test environments:
Application implementation support Problem and change management Analysis for performance improvements in
procedure or application processing flowAutomated scheduling Online report viewing and report distribution Statistical trends.

Operations is a 24/7 organization that supports both JHHS and JHU systems and applications. Operating out of the Mt. Washington Data Center, Operations:
Monitors both mid-range and mainframe systemsComplies with daily batch processing schedulesPrints and distributes an average of 935,000
printed pages per month Co-ordinates with the off-site storage vendor to
ensure the necessary requirements to satisfy our Disaster Recovery initiatives are maintained.
Facilities Management offers managed data center environmental controls, power distribution, load balancing, backup power systems, controlled security accesses and monitoring. Co-location services such as server hosting is also offered.
Facilities Management
The MTW facility was opened in May, 2005, as a 5,332 square foot center. A second center, 6,490 square feet, was opened in November, 2008. The facility has been operating at 100% availability since 2006.
