IS YOur DaTa HelPIng YOuAchieve Bottom-Line Results?

Organizations always try to make use of the best available information to drive their businesses — by making decisions, measuring performance, and shaping overall strategy. But too often they are challenged by data that is days or weeks old, preventing them from making timely decisions that have real impact. now organizations are discovering that access to the right data at the right time provides a distinct competitive advantage.

no one understands the inherent value of capturing and accessing crucial employee data better than Kronos. We have three decades of experience and success delivering a broad array of data collection solutions our customers rely on to achieve their mission-critical objectives every day.

Featuring technology that adapts to your specific work environment, Kronos data collection solutions reach all employees — wherever and however they work. Our applications also automate manual processes, which helps ensure that data is both timely and accurate and is readily avail-able to decision makers at all levels of your organization. Our solutions also engage your entire workforce through self-service capabilities that contribute to higher satisfaction among employees and greater empowerment for managers, which enables everyone in your organization to focus on core business activities.

Kronos' flexible, integrated solutions enable you to:

Reach all employeesWhether you have salaried, hourly, full-time, part-time, remote, mobile, permanent, or contingent employees,

we can deliver a data collection solution that is best suited for your organization. Badge terminals, web-based

solutions, interactive voice response (IVR), handheld/PDA solutions, and biometrics — we offer a full range of

products that enable you to engage every employee in your organization.

Reduce costs and increase productivityAutomating manual, error-prone data collection processes eliminates the need for paper-based systems,

which results in fewer mistakes, more accurate data, reduced labor costs, and improved overall productivity.

Automation accelerates the entire process, enabling you to better manage your employees’ needs, and it

provides decision makers with real-time access to the data that improves planning, forecasting, and scheduling.

All these capabilities help you align workforce strategy with your organization’s critical objectives.

3

Page 5: Data Collection Solutions Guide

That’s not all. We can help you reduce labor costs further by eliminating a persistent workplace

problem: “buddy punching.” Employees inappropriately entering time and labor data for each other has adverse

effects on labor costs, payroll accuracy, employee morale, and overall productivity. We offer a powerful

biometric solution that gives you a secure, easy-to-use method for accurately verifying employees’ identities while

assuring everyone that their privacy is protected.

Minimize technology costsOur data collection solutions integrate seamlessly with all of our applications, which include: time and

attendance; scheduling; payroll; human resources; leave and accrual management; analytics

and reporting; and workforce activities solutions. This means you’ll realize the full benefit of your applica-

tions while enjoying faster, more efficient implementations, as well as reduced maintenance costs during the

entire product lifecycle.

Improve employee satisfactionGive employees self-service access to their personal or work-related information — including leave balances,

schedules, hours worked, past earnings, and human resources data — and empower them with a greater sense

of control. This allows for the automation of common employee-centric processes that are time-consuming to

administer, and that help improve employee morale, performance, and retention.

Self-service can also help increase overall productivity. Employees can answer their own questions — quickly and

easily — without troubling human resources and payroll. Reducing administrative burdens allows busy managers

to spend less time on paperwork and more time on higher-value tasks.

Make better decisions fasterCollecting data directly at the source, as a transaction occurs, helps ensure that information is timely and

accurate, and it puts real-time data in the hands of decision makers. Armed with this data, they can make

well-informed decisions — the types of decisions that lead to better bottom-line results.

Workforce EmployeeHow does your organization collect and manage information from an increasingly diverse workforce?

Kronos’ Workforce employee™ application offers an intuitive, web-based interface that enables employees to enter time and labor data, as well as access a variety of job-related information. Providing browser-based access, Workforce employee can meet the complex needs of your entire workforce — everyone from individuals interacting via standard web browsers to groups of employees using badge terminals and self-service kiosks. This allows you to deliver self-service information that engages all employees and increases productivity.

Engage employees with self-service solutionsNow employees — on-site professionals, salaried, remote, even telecommuters — can enter, access, approve, and

view their job-related information using a standard web browser. On average, organizations can save $210 per

employee each year through the self-service features of the Kronos 4500 terminal.1 Giving the workforce greater

control over personal data inevitably leads to increases in employee morale, performance, and retention — key

factors that contribute to improving productivity and satisfaction in the workplace.

Instant access to information when you need itWith Workforce Employee, your employees gain real-time answers to the questions they ask every day, such as

“How many hours have I worked this week?”, or “How much vacation time do I have?”, or “What’s my schedule

for next week?” They can also view daily and cumulative hours worked, overtime accumulations, and other totals,

as well as online schedules with up-to-date leave balances.

Empower managers to make better decisionsUsing Workforce Employee’s display of real-time

labor information, managers can optimize the use

and development of your workforce. The solution

collects and tracks all labor data — including hours,

jobs, project information, or leave requests —

accurately and consistently. Managers view this

information and approve it in their web browser or right

at the point of entry, and they can use this informa-

tion to make timely, proactive decisions. And, with

exception views and alerts, managers can see

operational deviations in real time — such as absent

or late employees — so they can take appropriate

actions quickly.

Plus, Workforce Employee streamlines the time-

consuming, uninspired interactions between managers

and employees. Self-service gives managers the

tools they need to make staff decisions based on

performance reviews, training, employee goals, and

compensation. This also reduces your administra-

tive burdens while empowering managers to improve

employee performance and your overall business goals.

Better information leads to better decisionsSelf-service access can deliver other benefits to your

organization. For example, by reducing the amount

of time human resources, payroll, or managers

spend responding to employee questions, they are

free to spend more time focusing on higher-value,

more strategic activities. More important, by

collecting and tracking critical labor information,

Workforce Employee empowers managers at all levels

of your organization to make better-informed, real-time

business decisions about the workforce — decisions

that contribute to improving performance, reducing

costs, and growing your bottom line.

gaIn real-TIme acceSS TO Your Data and Achieve Better Results

Kronos 4500 Badge Terminalengineered and manufactured to the highest standards in our production facility based just outside Boston, the Kronos 4500™ badge terminal offers a secure and “intelligent” interface employees will embrace, and the tools and functionality busy managers need to better manage their work-forces. The Kronos 4500 is a web-based, network-centric terminal that captures labor data in real-time, which provides information that can help workforce planning, forecasting, scheduling, and analysis.

Fast, accurate data entryFeaturing a highly intuitive, menu-driven ATM-style interface, the Kronos 4500 terminal facilitates employee

interaction with its swipe-and-go functionality, as well as visual messages and audio feedback to confirm

correct entries. This feature-rich, easy-to-use interface also offers programmable soft keys and prominent

on-screen labels, which eliminate the need to memorize complex function-key sequences. Employees select

entries from a list — including labor levels, jobs, and pay codes — to minimize errors, and they can receive group

or individual messages and check such information as hours worked, schedules, and accruals.

Reduce labor costs with functionality that puts you in controlNow you can enforce your company’s policies and control overtime by making sure that employees work only the

hours they are scheduled to work. Supervisors can restrict when employees can punch to start and end shifts based

on specific work schedules or restriction profiles. Locking employees out of the system forces them to notify managers

if they arrive late or leave early, which helps improve attendance, and it prevents unauthorized overtime from

“early bird” employees who punch in early for their shifts. When schedule exceptions do occur, your managers can

easily override these restrictions right at the terminal.

Improve employee productivity and satisfaction with employee self-serviceNow you can take advantage of all that employee self-service has to offer. With the Kronos 4500 terminal’s

ATM-like interface and personalized Smart View™ technology, you can automate manual processes and empower

employees to access and maintain their own work-related information.

Using the terminal’s innovative web-browser functionality, employees have the ability to access and initiate person-

alized Smart View sessions that allow them to view their work schedules, enter time and labor details, and submit

requests — such as asking for time off — right at the terminal. The secure and restricted browser uses only HTML

files, so you don’t have to worry about viruses or employees browsing inappropriate websites.

Smart Views can also help you streamline communication between busy managers and employees. Smart Views

help you engage and empower employees to get the information they need — when they need it — without having

to disturb busy managers. Employees can read group or individual messages and view the status of work-related

issues, including shift sign up, shift swapping, training registration, and more. As a result, you improve communi-

cations and productivity while reducing administrative costs.

Designed for ease of ownershipThe Kronos 4500 terminal’s flexibility means that

the system matches the precise needs of your orga-

nization. For example, it can be remotely configured

to fit your payroll and personnel policies. In addi-

tion, the Kronos 4500 can be updated to address any

future requirements your organization may have. Other

adaptable features to help provide continuous ease of

ownership and value include:

easy installation: The Kronos 4500 terminal’s

on-screen configuration streamlines setups. Once

installed, it adapts itself to your environment using

advanced connectivity options, such as a built-in

auto-sensing 10/100 Mbps Ethernet with DHCP or a

standard v.90 modem. The Kronos 4500 terminal is

also compatible with 802.11x wireless LANs, as well

as Power-over-Ethernet (PoE) networking, which elimi-

nates the need for customers to install a power line and

outlet for each Kronos 4500 terminal.

centralized management: All administrative and

management functions are performed by Data

Collection Manager (DCM) software. DCM is a

user-friendly application that makes the manage-

ment of terminals virtually a plug-and-play process.

DCM gives you a variety of methods to manage your

terminals, such as assigning employees and

terminals to organizational groups, managing

employee access, collecting employee data, as well as

managing the data stream between terminals and your

Kronos software.

modular technology: The terminal comes with built-

in flash memory, so you won’t lose data during

network or power outages. If power is lost, an

optional backup battery provides full employee and

supervisor functionality. And, if the needs of your

organization evolve, the Kronos 4500 terminal

supports a wide range of data input devices to

extend the terminal’s capabilities, including:

Finger scan biometrics

Your choice of badge readers, including bar code, magnetic, and proximity

Universal relay to control ringing bells and gate entry

elImInaTe BuDDY PuncHIng While Alleviating Employees’ Privacy Concerns

Kronos 4500 Touch ID TerminalIf you’re looking for one solution to eliminate buddy punching and collect time and labor data accurately, look no further. The Kronos 4500 Touch ID™ terminal combines reliable, employee-friendly data collection functionality with sophisticated biometric verification capabilities.

The Kronos 4500 Touch ID terminal is built on the industry-leading, proven Kronos 4500 badge terminal platform, so you get all the same powerful features and functions that the Kronos 4500 terminal offers. However, the Kronos 4500 Touch ID terminal takes security to a new level with built-in, reliable finger-scan technology that verifies your employees’ identities during the data collection process.

Reduce labor cost and increase productivityAutomated time and attendance solutions are effective in minimizing data-entry errors generated by manual time-

keeping. But payroll inaccuracies — and inflated labor costs — persist when employees enter labor data for each

other. In fact, according to research on this issue, organizations that use a Kronos 4500 Touch ID terminal save

an average of 2.2 percent in gross payroll by eliminating buddy punching.2

Because every person’s finger data is unique, using finger-scan biometrics is a accurate way of verifying

employee identity, thus preventing employees from punching in and out for each other. With the Kronos 4500

Touch ID terminal, you’ll know that employees are making their own labor data entries.

Getting startedGetting employees onto the system is fast and easy. The entire biometric enrollment process usually

takes just a few seconds per person and can be performed at a Kronos 4500 Touch ID terminal or from a

central location. Employees begin by placing one or two fingers — using two fingers provides the option of

using the secondary finger as backup, in case the primary finger is injured — from either hand on the terminal’s

scanning device. The terminal even provides feedback and an ergonomic finger guide to assist with finger

positioning for successful biometric enrollment. After finger scanning is complete, the Kronos Touch ID software

uses a sophisticated pattern-recognition algorithm to measure finger characteristics and then translates these into

a unique mathematical “signature” that is used to establish each employee’s identity.

2 ROI Evaluation Report: Kronos 4500 Touch ID Terminal (2005), Nucleus Research, Inc.

9

Page 11: Data Collection Solutions Guide

Powerful technology for consistent verificationOnce enrolled, employees simply submit their time

and labor data by keying a preassigned PIN, or by

swiping a badge at the terminal, and placing one of

their enrolled fingers on the sensor. It’s that easy.

It’s so effective because of the core technology.

The Kronos 4500 Touch ID terminal uses a silicon-

based sensor to scan the live layers below the skin’s

surface layer. Unlike other technologies, such as

optical or DC capacitive, skin surface conditions do

not limit the ability of the sensor to capture biometric

data. And, for increased security, you can employ bar

code, magnetic, or proximity readers in conjunction

with the Kronos 4500 Touch ID terminal, making it

even more secure and versatile.

Protecting employees’ privacyThe Kronos 4500 Touch ID terminal also provides safe-

guards to protect your employees’ privacy. It achieves

this because the system does not actually capture

and save fingerprint images; it stores mathematical

representations of employees’ finger data that can not

be used to recreate fingerprints, which goes a long

way towards reassuring apprehensive employees. The

Kronos 4500 Touch ID terminal gives you the solution

to accurately and consistently verify your employees’

identities, eliminate buddy punching, and reduce labor

costs — all while providing privacy safeguards.

Offering the same features and functionality as the industry-

leading Kronos 4500 badge terminal, the Kronos 4500 Touch

ID terminal goes a step further, by offering proven biometric

technology. now you can eliminate buddy punching — for

reduced costs and increased productivity — while alleviating

employees’ privacy concerns.

Workforce TeleTimeDo you have employees who telecommute, work in multiple facilities, travel frequently, or just don’t have access to other data collection solutions or the Internet? If so, the Workforce TeleTime® system — a telephone-based interactive voice response (IVr) application similar to voicemail — gives you a reliable data collection option for your off-site or mobile workforce and decentralized work environments.

Workforce TeleTime offers the power of a proven data collection solution and the convenience and universal accessibility of the telephone. The result is a tightly integrated solution that is effective and easy to use for both you and your remote and mobile employees. Increased visibility and control over your entire organization means you can spend less time managing labor data and more time running your business.

Employees on the moveOrganizations that have employees who work across a large geographical area, such as a university or corporate

campus or a healthcare complex with remote clinics, will benefit from Workforce TeleTime. It is perfect for sales

representatives, consultants, construction workers, security personnel, service technicians, healthcare providers,

and other employees who cannot be anchored to a central location to enter labor data.

Using a landline or cellular telephone, employees use the telephone touchpad to perform specific time

and labor transactions. They can submit a variety of information, including start and end shifts, worked

hours, work rule and labor level transfers, and meal deductions. Once employees submit information, it is

recorded in the Workforce Central® database in real time for supervisors to access, review, or edit. Employees can

even have 24-hour self-service access to information such as their hours worked and accrual balances.

Supervisor functionsIn addition to employee transactions, supervisors can perform numerous functions, such as sending

individual and group messages or editing and approving employee timecards. They can also notify employees

about situations requiring their immediate attention, such as last-minute scheduling changes and floats. You can

even give supervisors editing capabilities, including timestamp additions, staffing changes, and much more.

Administrative functionsSystem administrators can easily configure Workforce TeleTime to accommodate specific requirements, user pro-

files, connect times, access privileges, and other settings. Administrator options for maximum flexibility include:

Peak-period function blocking: Restricts inquiry-only functions during periods of heavy traffic

call statistics reporting: Allows administrators to measure efficiency and prevent busy signals

employee information reporting: Creates reports about employee profiles, access privileges, line usage, sessions, and transactions

11

Page 13: Data Collection Solutions Guide

Where are your employees calling from? With Workforce TeleTime you can restrict employees

from using unauthorized telephone numbers — from

non-work locations, for example — to submit their

time and labor data entries. It uses network-provided

automatic number identification (ANI) to verify that

your employees are calling from authorized numbers

before gaining access to the system. If ANI security

is used to identify and restrict in-bound telephone

numbers, the information is recorded in several

reports available in Workforce TeleTime. These security

features help reduce fraud and abuse of the system.

Key security features include:

Tracking incoming telephone numbers

Restricting callers to specific numbers or area codes before permitting system access

Linking originating call’s time zone to assign the correct time zone to a time stamp

Workforce TeleTime featuresWorkforce TeleTime is designed for quick and

efficient phone calls to reduce connect time per trans-

action, limit excessive line usage, and provide high

performance during peak usage times.

Specific features to optimize performance include:

Interruptible prompts: Lets users type ahead and enter transactions without waiting for prompting scripts to complete

alias prompts: Permits assignment of descriptive names instead of numerical values

abbreviated voice prompting: Configurable prompting lets employees enter transactions via abbreviated responses

Telephone pass-back: Provides efficient line usage when multiple employees call the system from the same location

multiple-function operation: Allows users to perform several tasks during the same session

Session time-out: Terminates calls when users wait too long to respond to a prompt

Configuration flexibilityFinally, Workforce TeleTime is a single-system

solution that addresses the needs of diverse work-

force situations and infrastructure environments.

The system’s flexible configuration architecture

can be readily tailored to your particular telephony

environment. It works with a wide variety of PBX and

Centrex phone systems and supports analog, digital

T1, and ISDN/PRI lines. Customer-specific configu-

ration options provide an extensive selection of line

set-ups, call restrictions, and user profiles.

engage YOur Mobile Workforce

Handheld/PDADo you know where your mobile workers are? using Kronos’ time and labor applications with hand-held devices is helping many organizations — including transportation, healthcare, public safety, and manufacturing — better manage their “out-of-sight” decentralized and mobile workforces. It doesn’t matter if you have employees who work alone, such as service technicians or truck drivers, or groups of employees, such as construction or catering crews. Kronos can support your mobile workforce with “anytime, anywhere” data collection and information access through the use of handheld devices.

extending Kronos’ time and labor solutions to handheld devices engages your mobile workforce by allowing off-site employees to easily enter and track their time, labor, and other work-related information whenever and however it’s convenient for them. It also empowers them to perform transactions, such as labor transfers, without leaving their workstation, even as they work on different jobs during the course of the day. This solution also helps you apply your pay and work rules accurately and consistently across your entire organization.

You can also increase productivity in the field by moving critical business information to mobile employees, all as a result of making your time and labor solutions available on a variety of microsoft-based mobile devices and networks. You can even collect real-time data using wireless technology and allow employees to work offline and then exchange data when wired or wireless communications become available.

Kronos goes where your workforce goesWhen you extend your Kronos time and labor applications to the mobile workforce, you’ll be able to:

Enhance payroll accuracy by automating data-collection processes for all employees

Reduce the time employees and managers spend dealing with paper-based timesheets

Provide management with real-time job-cost information to enhance decision making

No matter what industry you work in, providing your field and mobile employees with the information they

need — exactly when they need it — can give your organization a significant competitive advantage.

13

Page 15: Data Collection Solutions Guide

Fast, accurate data collectionwith a handheld solution

Each morning, a parking supervisor is assigned to

a particular event and is given a list of employees

who will be working that day. In the case of a

big event, such as a football game, he may have

as many as 50 employees working for him. The

supervisor’s biggest challenge is accurately collect-

ing and tracking each employee’s time and labor

information to help his company comply with union

regulations, analyze job costs, forecast future labor

requirements, and handle other issues.

By using Kronos’ time and labor application on

handheld devices, the supervisor is now able to

scan each employee’s bar-coded ID badge with

a handheld device to collect their time and atten-

dance information. This data is collected right

at the source, eliminating reliance on error-prone

timesheets or other paper forms. As a result, labor

data is uploaded directly to the Kronos database

in real time, eliminating redundant data-entry

efforts. The company’s specific pay and work

rules are applied, and employees’ time and labor

data is stored for future reporting and decision-

making purposes.

A telephony solution for employees on the go

In a busy healthcare organization, mobile employees

don’t have access to traditional data collection

terminals — or even the web — to submit their

time and labor information. Instead, they often

use paper-based timesheets, which are filled out

and faxed to supervisors who have to manually

enter this information for payroll. Using Kronos’

telephone-based data collection solution, mobile

healthcare workers use standard telephones or

cellular phones to quickly and easily submit their

time and attendance information.

For instance, a traveling home nurse starts her day

by visiting a patient at his home. To indicate the

start of her shift, she uses her cell phone to dial

into her company’s interactive voice-response data

collection system and enters a simple code on the

phone’s touchpad. When she finishes with this

patient two hours later, she repeats the previous

step — on the drive to her next appointment — to

indicate that she has completed this activity. She

duplicates this process throughout the day to sub-

mit all of her time and labor entries, and later that

night, she calls in to check her worked hours and

next day’s schedule.

now you can automate the data collection process

for remote or mobile employees. When you do, you’ll

achieve the ability to use this time and labor data

to better manage and gain more insight into your

“out-of-sight” workforce.

TermInal OPTIOnSKronos 4500 badge terminal or Kronos 4500 Touch ID terminal Communication OptionsThe Kronos 4500 badge terminal and Kronos 4500 Touch ID terminal offer a variety of industry-standard communication technologies — ethernet, modem, and wireless topologies — to match your existing network infrastructure and provide fast, reliable data communications.

This built-in connectivity delivers fast, reliable communications over Wans and lans. Kronos terminals meet the performance demands of today’s networks with auto-sensing 10/100 mbps ethernet and TcP/IP protocol support, allowing you to leverage your existing infrastructure.

a simple way of remotely gathering labor data includes using an optional Socket modem module installed in the terminal. modem-equipped terminals are well-suited for operating environments where groups of workstations and terminals are established in remote locations without ethernet connectivity. This modem features v.92 standard for dial-up communications as well as the v.44 compression standard for increased performance over the Internet.

Kronos 4500 terminals are engineered to comply with all ethernet standards and the Ieee 802.3 ethernet specification. This allows our terminals to support any 802.11 (802.11a, 802.11b, 802.11g) compliant wireless-to-ethernet bridges or client bridges from your chosen system vendors.

Integrated Badge ReadersEvery Kronos 4500 badge terminal or Kronos 4500

Touch ID terminal ships with an integrated badge

reader. These readers identify users in a consistent and

reliable manner, facilitating faster time and labor trans-

actions. We offer a choice of integrated badge reader

technologies capable of decoding a variety of badge

types. For example, you can choose from a bar code

and magnetic readers, which allow badges to slide

smoothly through the reader slot, or proximity readers,

for increased speed and convenience. This means

you can use one badge for all existing applications —

helping you reduce costs while providing a single badge

solution for all your access identification and time and

labor needs. We also support connection of customer-

supplied external readers, including contactless

MIFARE® and iCLASS™ smart card readers.

External Proximity ReadersThe Kronos 4500 terminal now supports external proximity readers supplied by Kronos or third-party vendors.

Kronos’ two external readers consist of:

The HID ProxPro Reader Kit

The HID MiniProx Reader Kit

External Readerless KitThis kit enables HID readers previously purchased for use with Series 400 terminals or non-HID proximity readers

from third-party vendors to operate in conjunction with the Kronos 4500 terminal. This kit is also used when

connecting HID ProxPro or MiniProx readers — as well as contactless MIFARE and iCLASS smart card readers

— to a Kronos 4500 terminal.

Handheld Linear ImagerDesigned for quick bar code scanning, Kronos’ handheld

linear imagers are excellent in handheld scanning

applications where hand scanning is required for large

bulky items, such as in shipping and warehousing

operations. Featuring no moving parts and a rugged

design to provide reliability for demanding work

environments, this handheld reader connects to the

badge terminal, making it easier to scan labor entries

— job codes or department transfers — directly into the

terminal, eliminating the tedious, error-prone process of

manually entering codes.

These linear imagers are designed to match the reading distance of standard-range laser readers. They offer a

bright, consistent light source that operates in varying ambient conditions, from sunlight to florescent light, and

the sharp aiming line allows users to scan closely spaced bar code labels.

Universal RelayWith a universal relay kit, you can use the Kronos 4500 terminal to control gate entry and the ringing of bells

(customers supply their own external bells and gate locks).

Bell SchedulesThe Kronos 4500 terminal allows you to ring an external bell or buzzer at specific times to signal the start or end

of a shift. Providing you the flexibility you need, the terminal’s bell schedule allows you to define custom schedules

for ringing bells and activating alarms or other audible devices from third-party suppliers.

With this functionality, you determine:

The day and time the primary bell should ring

How long the primary bell should ring

Whether or not a warning bell should ring

TermInal OPTIOnSKeypad and Power Options

Alphanumeric KeypadWhen your organization requires employees

to perform advanced labor transactions on a

Kronos 4500 terminal, we can provide a large,

full alphanumeric keypad. This rugged unit

features a membrane-based panel that is suited

for gloved operators.

Power-over-Ethernet (PoE)Power-over-Ethernet is an industry standard

technology (IEEE 802.3af) that sends power to

Kronos 4500 terminals over CAT5 twisted-pair

Ethernet cables. PoE eliminates the resources

and costs associated with installing an AC power

line and outlet for each Kronos 4500 terminal.

Gate EntryYou can also control employees’ entry into your facility. When an employee swipes a badge at the terminal or uses

a remote reader, the terminal can unlock a door latch for a specified length of time as well as control the times

during the day when doors are locked or unlocked. This helps enhance security by opening doors for authorized

personnel only, and it lets you enforce employee schedules. For example, if an unscheduled employee tries to

punch in, the gate lock restricts access unless a supervisor overrides the terminal. And for further time savings, this

function can be configured to allow an employee to gain access and punch in or out with just one badge swipe.

Battery Backup KitFor environments where the ability to collect data

during a power failure is needed, Kronos terminals

can be equipped with an internal 12VDC lead-acid

battery backup for interruption-free operation of the

terminal. The backup battery provides enough power

to keep the terminal functioning at full capacity for

up to two hours. Kronos terminals will also recharge

the battery if it ever becomes depleted from use.

In the event of a power failure, this option allows

employees to finish up jobs and punch out.

If network communications to the Kronos terminal

are interrupted, the terminals will store all employee

activities until network communications are restored.

The employees can continue to conduct their

activities at the terminals during any communication

interruptions, and then data will be quickly and

securely collected when communications are restored.

Internal AC OutletWhen your facility doesn’t permit you to install the terminal over an existing AC outlet, or you are unable to

because of a concrete or brick wall, the internal AC outlet allows you to run a conduit and secure the power

connection inside the terminal. This reduces the likelihood of someone tampering with and disabling the unit.
