VENUE: Ramapuram Signal, near MIOT Hospitals.
NUMBER OF ATTENDEES FROM RC of EEC: 30
On the 12th of May, ’Nil Gavani Sel’ was an event conducted in order to educate
people about importance of wearing helmets and seat belts. It took place at the
Ramapuram signal, near MIOT Hospitals.
The idea for the event was initially conceived by Sridhar, the Community Service
Director of the Rotaract Club of EEC. The permission for carrying out the event was
gotten from the DCP, Traffic. The event was supported by the traffic police present
at the signal; helping the Rotaractors to carry it out without any hassles.
The event consisted of a minute-long skit, which included miming. The script was
based on the hit YouTube video, ‘The Seatbelt Crew’. The event’s dialogues were
equally catchy as the ones present in the video, with the various participants of the
event, from the Rotaract Club, enacting the humorous skit.
Thus, the event was a huge success, creating awareness on the importance of using
seatbelts and wearing helmets while driving. The participation of the Rotaract
Club’s members was vital to the success of the event.

An orphanage visit was conducted on the 23rd of June, 2014. It was arranged as part

College. Over 60 Rotaractors volunteered for the event.
A visit to the Good Life Centre in West Tambaram was organized. The reception
they got was enthusiastic to say the least. The children immediately ran to them
and started talking and playing. The Rotaractors conducted sessions of coloring,
bowling, playing cricket and jewellery corner which involved making bracelets,
necklaces etc.
This was a great experience for the children as they did not have anyone to break
their monotonous routine and this was the perfect opportunity for them.
For the Rotaractors, it was an eye opener that there are children like these who are
homeless and without anyone to care for them. It showed them a way to help
change the world in a small way. It was not easy for them to forget the material
comforts that they had come to get used to and to see this stark reality.
