New Delhi, Dec 16: Over 2,200 youth from Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) are getting training from 29 corporates across the country, thanks to Project Udaan.
The project, an initiative of the Prime Minister, the National Skills Development Corporation and the Ministry of Home Affairs and industry, was started with the aim of providing skills to 40,000 youth over a period of five years, according to an NSDC release.
Sanjeev Garg, Global Head (Customer Care, Commercial Vehicles), Tata Motors, said, "We have already conducted two selection drives, wherein we selected 56 Udaan candidates from round one, who are already getting training at Amity Noida and NITTTR Bhopal."

MUMBAI: "Udaan" a special industry initiative of the Prime Minister, the National Skills Development Corporation (NSDC) and Ministry of Home Affairs has been mandated to work with the corporate sector in bringing about a positive change in the employment and skills space of Jammu and Kashmir.
The initiative targets the youth of Jammu and Kashmir- graduates, postgraduates and three years engineering diploma holders, who are seeking global and local opportunities.
Udaan aims to provide skills to 40,000 youth over a period of five years has already received a commitment of 59,000 from 42 corporates across high growth sectors like retail, IT, ITES, manufacturing, telecom, sports, banking, auto, education and electronics. As of date more than 2,200 candidates have joined training with 29 corporates across the country.
For the first time 29 of India's largest employers have sent more than 100 of their senior managers to select candidates from Jammu and Kashmir. Today the programme is not limited to Jammu and
Srinagar but has spread to all 22 districts in the state.
Commenting on the progress of Udaan, Dilip Chenoy, CEO and Managing Director, NSDC said, "The project was conceived and implemented as a socio-economic commitment that would provide an opportunity for the youth of
Jammu and Kashmir to look beyond the state boundaries and benefit from the corporate opportunities throughout the country and globally. The 2,200 plus trainings commenced so far is only a beginning."
The project has seen remarkable progress where over 39,000 young, aspiring and ambitious youths
