From the Principal’s Desk There has been a lot of flu going through the local community and school over the last few weeks for both students and staff. Students are being encouraged to maintain their hygiene and to cover

their mouth when they cough or sneeze to reduce the spread of germs. Thank-you to parents and students who stayed home whilst they were sick.

The students had successful sessions with the Life Education van parked at the school on Monday and Tuesday this week and students learnt about being responsible for their own health. The senior students

learnt about cybersafety and interacting with technology in a safe and legal way and growing good friends. The middle school students learnt about keeping safe in a digital world and growing good friends.

The junior classes learnt about looking after their bodies, the safe use of medications and friendships. The learning was very valuable and we look forward to having the Life Education back in 2020.

Reminder - Curriculum Day Friday June 7 - No school for students tomorrow School Council has approved a curriculum day to coincide with the Queen’s Birthday long weekend and there will

be no school on this day. Staff will be completing a course on alternative communication systems on this day. Also Monday June 10 is the Queen’s Birthday public holiday and there is no school on this day either.

Notification of Student Absences Parents and carers should note that there are new requirements for all government

schools to contact parents/carers as soon as practicable on the same day of an un explained student absence.

This requirement supports student safety and wellbeing. Schools need to know when and why a child is absent, and parents/carers need to know if their child

is not at school. Prompt communication also promotes daily school attendance.

Parents and carers must notify the school of their child’s absence as soon as possible on the day of absence using the school’s preferred method, including by telephone, message with the office, communication diaries and a message with the bus staff.

Thank-you for your cooperation and please contact Wendy, Narelle or myself if you need further explanation.

Enjoy your long weekend, keep warm and drive safely …………… Steve Crossley
