What can be done about inoperable or large vehicles in our community?

By Rose Thomas, HOA President There have been a number of complaints about inoperable vehicles and large vehicles (RVs, trailers, campers, etc.) appearing more frequently and for longer periods of times in our neighborhood. See below for some information about Denver regulations. Do not park a truck more than 22 feet in length and do not park a trailer that is not attached to a licensed vehicle for

more than 2 hours on a public street.  Valid license plates are required for all vehicles operating, parked within the City's property or public right of way.  To report an issue with a vehicle parked on a street in Green Valley Ranch, please contact 311.

(https://www.denvergov.org/pocketgov/#/report-a-problem). If the inoperable, large/commercial vehicle is parked on a driveway, yard and/or sidewalk in Green Valley Ranch, please re-port the issue to the HOA by emailing [email protected]. Please include as much information as possible (including photos).

Those Darn Preseason Weeds! By Rachael Asher, HOA Inspector

A new season is upon us in Green Valley Ranch and here are some tips to help avoid those pesky landscaping violations this season.

. 1. Pre-emergent herbicide is one of the most helpful things you can put on your grass before the season begins.

Always apply in very early spring and again in the beginning of winter, it helps prevent weeds from seeding and growing for the whole season. You can use liquid or granular but you must ensure even and consistent distribution. With each season, the need for pre-emergent lessens, but it is not effective once weeds have begun to grow. Clover, Crabgrass and Spurge are specific weeds that can be hard to get rid of. Try asking a professional at a Garden Center

what they recommend to eradicate them. Always remember that Watering is key!

    2. Do not apply a Pre-emergent if you have bare areas. You should first till the soil and add fresh composting soil or garden soil and re-seed. You can apply products like a Weed and Feed to help get things rolling while also helping with weed prevention. Again, Watering is Key!

    3. Never, I mean never apply Roundup to any landscaped area. Roundup will kill all the weeds but also all of the grass because it is not weed specific. Roundup 360 works great on any other surface that is grass free and helps prevent those weeds from sprouting up in the

cracks all year round. 4.Remember, all is not lost, even if you have tried numerous products and nothing seems to work on your grass you can always try a complete re-soil and Sod or re-seed, Xeriscaping or artificial turf to get your yard looking good this season or the next.

ARC (Architectural Review Committee) forms are available on our website and in our office if you plan to reconfigure your yard; it’s

never too early to get a head start on those landscaping projects for this season. Starting in April, the ARC Committee will meet twice a month, so get those forms in ASAP to get your approval before starting any

landscaping makeovers this season. And finally, if you have any questions or need an extension for yard work this season, call the office. We are here to help and inform. Thanks and Good Growing!
