REMINDER: STAFF PROFESSIONAL LEARNING DAY

School staff will be involved in a workshop for the entire day. The Top End YMCA will be

ANNUAL SCHOOL GARDENS WORKING BEE

The response to this activity on last Sunday afternoon was a little disappointing, with only a handful of school community members able

to come along, in contrast to previous efforts. Notwithstanding, a considerable amount of planting and mulching was achieved and to our hardy few, we say a hearty “THANK YOU!!” for a great effort.

INDIGENOUS BUSH TOY MAKING: The students of Yr 2/1 Goveas and Yr 2/1 Rowe have been exploring interesting things in Indigenous Studies. On Thursday, they made Bush Toys, thanks to the support from Mark White’s family who helped us make the toys, Jodie Stevens who provided the long grass and milk tins and metal wire.

PREPARING OUR CLASSES FOR 2011 – YOUR INPUT WELCOMED: The teaching staff is working on the important process of preparing the school’s class structure for the new school year. The process of preparing a school structure includes a review of each student’s development profile, anticipated levels and availability of teaching staff, available classroom space, interpersonal relationships patterns etc. We are also aware that on occasions, parents/caregivers have information that will assist us in placing children in the school’s structure more appropriately. This information could be, for example, medical information, special needs in children etc. Please contact your child’s teacher, myself, Ms Harding or Ms Cann if you feel that any such advice and information can assist us in providing a more positive environment for your child. In making requests for particular class placements for 2011, please note that requests need to relate to the academic, social and/or behavioural needs of your child. It is also not appropriate to request a particular teacher. We are appreciative of the input we have received so far. I expect that tentative class lists for 2011 will be on display in the final week of this term. Take care Dr Michael B. (Mick) Myers Principal
