PRINCIPALS REPORT On Wednesday night it was with great pride that Sarah Abraham, Tim Stapleton, Sarah Wintle and I

witnessed Kerry Champness, our much loved bus driver, receive the Emerald and District Rotary Pride

of Workmanship Award. The staff were unanimous in supporting Kerry’s nomination for this award and,

therefore, provided the following citation:

“Kerry is our school bus driver and has been ‘forever’! He is VERY patient with everybody and will go out

of his way to pick up and drop off extra students even if it makes his bus route a little longer than usual.

He doesn’t hesitate to drive smaller groups of students to activities during the school day if it can save

the parents a little bit of money in doing so. As long as he has a car magazine or book to read he is

happy to wait all day before making the return trip to school.

Kerry takes his job very seriously and will not compromise the safety and wellbeing of the students.

Thank goodness his standards are very high as he carries very precious cargo!!!

He never, ever gets rattled, is always calm and focussed on keeping the students on the bus safe.

Our whole school community; parents, staff and students alike have the utmost respect for Kerry and the

job that he does. We are very, very proud to have Kerry as our bus driver and we couldn’t think of a

more deserving recipient for such a prestigious award.”

Congratulations Kerry!

Grade 5/6 Camp

Next Tuesday 26th April, our senior students will travel to Forest Lodge, Yarram for a four day camping

experience. Forest Lodge is an adventure camp which provides the students with many ‘thrill seeking’

activities. The favourite is the giant swing which really gets the adrenaline rushing as you free fall

through the air before the slack is taken up…. certainly a favourite of mine! Other activities include the

ropes courses, canoeing, bush cooking, flying fox, night hike, swimming and archery. The camp provides

fully qualified staff to supervise the adventure activities.

Everyone will have a wonderful time! Please keep your fingers crossed that the beautiful weather that we

have had for most of the week will follow the students to Yarram!

Curriculum Day

There will be a Curriculum Day on Tuesday June 7th 2016. Students are not required at school on this

day. The staff will be listening to Glen Pearsall as he facilitates training centred around the giving and

receiving of feedback, to and from teachers and to and from students.

We are VERY excited to secure Glen as our facilitator as he is renown across our network of schools for

providing outstanding professional learning sessions.

ANZAC Day

As there is a public holiday on Monday 25th April 2016 there will be no school. Enjoy the long weekend

and please stay safe!
