MESSAGE FROM OUR SCHOOL BUS OPERATORS

Jason and I would like to thank everyone who helped me

on Wednesday a8ernoon. We are extremely grateful. To

say it has been a stressful week for us would be an under-

statement. The kindness and considera&on that the school

community has shown us has been amazing. Unfortunate-

ly the accident was beyond our control. However, we have

been heartened that all our hard work towards our Bus

Safety Management and our Emergency Procedures meant

that everything ran smoothly and all the children were

quickly and safely taken care of. Our investment in the

variety of safety features in our bus also meant that no-one

was injured, which is always our primary concern.

I want to thank the children who travel on our bus as they

have been very helpful and well behaved this week and a

par&cularly big thank you to Ruby and Morgan who were

outstanding given that they were also in the accident.

Please know that the welfare and safety of your children

has and always will be our top priority.

Kind regards

Chris&ne and Jason

GRADE FIVE-SIX CAMP

A reminder to our Grade Five-Six parents that the Grade

Five-Six camp to Canberra runs from Monday 23rd—Friday

27th November. As was published at the beginning of the

year, the total cost of the camp will be approximately $420

(less the $50 deposit that families have already paid). I an-

&cipate being able to confirm the exact cost of the camp

some&me in the next few weeks.

FOOD ON THE SCHOOL BUS

Our school bus operators have no&ced lots of food scraps,

crumbs and rubbish on the seats and floor of the bus re-

cently.

Although the bus has a ‘no food policy’, our bus operators

understand that at the end of a long day at school students

can be hungry and wan&ng a snack on the journey home.

They ask that parents please provide a snack that does not

create crumbs or a mess, such as an apple, banana or pack-

et of &ny teddy biscuits (as oppose to chips, cheese balls or

popcorn). Students are also encouraged to take their rub-

bish with them or to place it in the bin provided on their

way off the bus. We thank parents for their support with

this.

JUMP ROPE FOR HEART

It is wonderful to hear that many students have already

began collec&ng money and sponsors to support them on

our Jump Rope for Heart day. A reminder that students are

able to get sponsors to pledge a dona&on to support their

par&cipa&on in the Jump Rope for Heart program. 50% of

the money raised will go towards the new playground for

our school and the other 50% to the Heart Founda&on to

support research into children’s heart disease. The top

three student fundraisers from each classroom will receive

a prize to recognise their efforts.

Jump Rope for Heart will culminate with our Jump off Day

which will be held in the a8ernoon on Friday 11th Septem-

ber. On this day parents are invited to come to the school

to watch our students show off their skipping skills. Parents

are also encouraged to take part and/or help out by spin-

ning a rope or manning an ac&vity sta&on. Any parents

interested in assis&ng please see Mrs. PaKon.

SCHOOL COUNCIL

The next mee&ng of our School Council is on Monday 14th

September, beginning at 7.00pm. Finance CommiKee will

meet at 6.30pm.

BOOK WEEK DRESS UP ACTIVITY

A reminder that our Book Week Day

is Wednesday 2nd September. This

year’s theme is ’Books Light up our

World’. Students are able to come

to school dressed as their favourite

book character or in a costume re-

lated to the theme on this day. Students and parents

may wish to begin planning a costume for this day.

Monday turned out to be a perfect day for weeding. The students worked solidly to prepare

the garden beds for plan&ng. But alas just when it was &me to take the Prep to 2 class out, it

poured with rain. The junior students did a fantas&c job working on their garden journals.

Many students have used the same journal for years and it is a fantas&c record of their journey

as sustainable ci&zens. Well done

to the girls who volunteered to

work over lunch&me to plant up

pots of strawberries kindly

donated by Danielle Donnelley.

(excluding liquor, tobacco and gi8 cards). Place the

Woolworths Earn & Learn S&cker onto a Woolworths Earn &

Learn S&cker Sheet and when it’s complete, the S&cker Sheet

can be dropped into the Collec&on Box here at the school or at

your local Woolworths. At the end of the promo&on, we’ll be able to get some great new
