David Gurteen: Knowledge Sharing: The power of conversation David will be sharing his vast experience in the field of Knowledge Management, with a focus on the power of conversations, as a way to the address challenges of creativity, innovation and problem solving in organisations. David will talk about his experiences across the world and will demonstrate how his KnowledgeCafé method can amplify the power of conversation to the benefit of your organisation. David Griffiths: Becoming Innovative: What is knowledge and what are we managing David will be talking about the need to set the best foundation for success in your organisation by answering critical questions, such as: What are we doing; why are we doing it; what is it we are trying to manage; and how can we capture it? Stripping back the jargon, David navigates the drivers of the knowledge economy to clearly signpost what it is that needs to be managed and the implications for your organisation Brian Moon (Introduction by David Griffiths): Capturing Expertise, or the cost of relearning what you already know The fact is that organisations are faced with a problem. The wealth of expertise or experience, and therefore competitive advantage, resides within high performers – what might be called “franchise experts.” What type of trauma do firms go through when franchise expertise either retires or, worse still, when it is lost to a competitor? How do organisations react to this and how prepared are they to adapt? Put a cost on the operational knowledge lost as a senior staff member redeploys from one role in the organisation to another. Put a cost on the knowledge lost when senior staff exit the organisation through retirement. What is the cost of having to relearn what was already known? Brian and David outline the strategic challenges and the tactical response, to protect what your organisation already knows.
