We were overjoyed several m on th s ag o to receive a letter from h er r eg ar d

Four days of study and spiritual i ns pir ati on , j oi ne d in bythirty-five including the Davis and Chambers families) ended successfully ona Saturday afternoon with one confession of faith. Th e young lady, from theMukojima Church, wa s baptized later at the East Nagoya Church.

Camp in Japan is much lik e c am p in America with classes in the mornings, recreation or a hike in the afternoon, and evangelistic services in the evenings. Most of the actual running of the camp was taken over by the four Japanesepreachers as they put into practice the lessons they had learned a t the NagoyaChristian Leaders Institute. In addition to these taught by the Japanese preachers,c la sses were taught by Bob Hazel Chambers, Howard, Kathryn, and JudyD a v i s

T he e nth us ia sm of the campers is evident by the plans they are alreadymaking for next yea rs c am p. If possible camp next year will be held at a seashore camp.

Ne w Years time in Japan is the main celebration of the year. All d eb ts a re settled shops

axe closed even food is prepared for several days ahead. Literally the n at io n t ak es a Holiday.

It is a joyous and colorful celebration but one in which Christ has no part. Even th e

f ai th fu l Chri st i an many times finds it hard to keep th e traditions in a Christian way. With

th e beginning of th e ne w year we r ea li ze m or e than ever the need for a renewed effort for

Christ in the ye ar ahead.

A nation without Christ is a n at io n w it ho ut h op e and th ou gh th ere a re almost a mill ion

Christians in Japan this number is only on e in on e hundred. Truly th e harve st is plenteous

    but th e laborers ar e few. P e rh ap s t h er e w il l a lw ay s be to o fe w laborers but there need not

be a lack of prayer for th e lost. You r p ra ye rs an d support c an he lp in a great way to make

up for th e lack of workers in th e field.

We have had our share of s ickness in th e family this winter. C olds Asian Flu an d now

Janet has contacted a n O ri en ta l a il me nt t ha t ha s caused her hands face and parts of her

body to break out in an almost solid swelling rash. After several tries, the Air Force doctors

have checked its spread an d seem to be bringing it under contrel.

Kenny will be two years ol d January IS , an d like all youngsters his age, he is learning

new words everyday. Since he is exposed to both English an d Japanese, he is acquiring a

mixed vocabulary in both lan guag es. This especially de li ght s t he Japanese young people

who meet in our home for Bible Study an d Sunday School Classes.

We would l ike to ad d an extra word of thanks to you who sent money fo r th e girl s

school ing. The ir t ui ti on at th e U. S. Ai r Force school is almost S 10 0 some months , which

is a heavy burden especially at this time. Also, we ar e gra teful for th e l et ters of encour

agement you send because of ou r financial situation.

As we begin another year for Christ in Japan, we wish to enlist your prayers in Hi s

behalf. There is much to b e done and so little t ime Your p ra yer s an d support can

s trengthen our hands an d win th e victory for Christ
