What is the Problem?Problem ‘Hook’ or ‘Understand’ in PBL In the lesson you need to write the question or scenario that you (the teacher) will put to the students
You can…
• begin with a problem or scenario that students recognize as being "real"• begin with students asking questions about the world around them, and
lead them to the types of questions that address the lesson objectives• develop authentic investigations in which students do real Mathematics,
English or Science• begin with news articles• use literature or movies as springboards to discuss how things really work
What is the problem?

Lesson Plan Review
• Didactic Characteristics Check• PBL Characteristics Check• TPACK Compliant• General comments
General Comments
• Need to check for elements of TPACK throughout lesson
• Need to interrogate that TPACK elements are really there
TPACK Compliant
TK listed – but where is TCK? TPK? TPCK?
Is it really TPK?
• Is this really TPACK? Or is it TCK? Or is it TPK?• Is this really ‘Gather’?
Key Points
What worked well What could work better
Great team efforts to address all characteristic of Didactic, PBL & TPACK
Clear sequencing of activities in lesson logic Creative efforts to use technology to enhance
content & pedagogy Good use of internet resources to conduct
assessment Additional efforts to include learning object by
one team – to assist students in use of team Good production in short time frame
Lesson Plan template lack of consistency Some lessons lacked topic, objectives, skills,
knowledge, attitude, technology to be used, assessment strategies
Use a common template Need to elaborate more the didactic & pbl activity
steps Need to clarify student activity in the didactic &
pbl process – whole class, individual work, groupwork formation, group work report back
Need to identify assessment process Define that problem in PBL!
Lesson Observations – Preparation
1. 6 presentations We have two lesson plans produced by two sub-groups in each subject
2. Each sub-group to choose & prepare one activity from the plan that can be completed in 10 mins – introduction, main activity & conclusion
3. Prepare and practice with technology resources4. Choose one group member to present the lesson5. See the observation tool for the lesson
Time allocated for preparation 1 hour
Lesson Simulations, Observation & Revision
1. Lesson presentations of 10 mins each2. Other groups will play two roles:
– the first role is observers (collecting data with the observation tool) and
– the second role as students to whom the lesson is presented.
3. Groups to record observation with tool in rotation4. Feedback and discussion of 10 mins after each lesson5. Final revision of lesson plans for application in
classroom practice
Time allocated for preparation 2 hours
