CAMPZONE: AgES 6-12Steve Montez, 681-2865 or [email protected] fun for the kids, convenient for the parents ... the way it should be! we have more fun than ever, mixing the best of past camp activities with new ideas to make this year’s program legit. Fun, non-competitive action themes, with activities such as sports, games, arts and crafts, nature programs, fishing, special events, family nights, weekly swimming, and road trips (special trips). CampZone Camps are for boys and girls ages 6-12. Camp runs for ten (10) one-week sessions and meets Monday through Friday, 8:30 am to 3:30 pm. Extended CampZone Care hours are 6:45 am to 8:30 am and 3:30 pm to 5:30 pm. CampZone T-Shirt, Extended care and special trip admissions are included in your fee. Let your imagination run free with hands-on activities in the fine arts designed to challenge your creative skills. Parents are responsible for transportation to and from the program site and to some special event sites. Campers should bring their own sack lunch. Drinks and snacks are provided. Camp fee includes all supplies, field trips, and swimming once a week. Dress for a mess. Camps meet Monday through Friday, 8:30 am - 3:30 pm. Extended Camp care is available from 7:00-8:30 am and 3:30-5:00 pm at an additional cost of $12 per child per week and a separate registration.

Community Children’s Theatre will hold auditions for their summer musical, “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat” directed by Mary Ellen Ulrich on Friday, May 13, at 5:00 pm and saturday, May 14 at 10:00 am at st. Ancient Oaks Day Camp is all about having fun and educational experiences in the great outdoors. weekly themes reflect on a variety of fun events and plenty of hands-on activities. Located on 320 acres, sommer Park consists of woods, open fields, hiking trails, ponds and a neighborhood park. Camp tours available by appointment. Ancient Oaks Day Camp is the best place to be this summer. we’re celebrating 41 years of memories for children and adults.

» Lunch: we do not provide lunch, but rather make available refrigeration for your child’s sack lunch from home. Campers may bring money to buy drinks or snacks during their afternoon break.

» Camp/Park Volunteers: we are looking for a limited number of 14- and 15-year-olds interested in volunteering at Ancient Oaks Day Camp, located at sommer Park during the camp season. All applicants will be interviewed to determine their suitability for the job. Tasks range from being a camp counselor’s assistant to helping in the office. Applicants need to apply to the Peoria Park District Volunteer Coordinator at the glen Oak Pavilion (681-2822).

» Ancient Oaks Camp Extended Care: If the camp time (8:30 am-4:00 pm) does not fit your work/personal schedule, supervision is available at camp from 7:00-8:30 am and 4:00-5:30 pm. Cost is $15 per week per child. Parents are responsible for transportation.

ZOO CAMP 2011 BACK TO BASICS – gRADES K-8At Peoria Zoo, 2218 N. Prospect Road in glen Oak Park Education Department: 686-3365, ext. 3513Think you know all the essentials about animals? want to test yourself? Join us this summer and investigate what makes an animal an animal. Camp fees include a “zoo-riffic” t-shirt and group picture of the campers. what better way to spend the summer and explore amazing animals!

Each program has been tailored to specific age groups and contains the following topics: Animal safari, science Experiments, Crafts, Fun Fables and stories, and Fun and games. Each Zoo camper will be experiencing a program especially designed to meet the needs, interests and expectations appropriate to their age and developmental stage, so it is important that the age guidelines are followed. Please do not request to enroll children in other age categories.

» Registration is required. To register, please call 686-3365 ext. 3513. Programs will fill quickly and are on a first come, first served basis.

» Registration fees are non-refundable. The Zoo reserves the right to cancel programs with insufficient registration. A full refund will be given for program cancellations.

SPRINg BREAK BASKETBALL CAMP: AgES 8-14

Instruction will include shooting, dribbling, passing and defense. In addition to the basketball instruction, prominent speakers are brought in. Past speakers included Larry Ivory from the Black Chamber of Commerce and ICC head coach Tony wysinger. A t-shirt and certificate will be given to all participants of the camp. fee-R/NR: $30/$45

PROCTOR SUMMER fUN ACADEMYAre you looking for something new and exciting for the summer? Proctor Recreation Center’s summer Fun Academy is the place to be! This academy is like no other! In addition to the great field trips every Friday, your child will experience an abundance of knowledge combining classes and recreation. A typical day includes out-of-the-box teaching in the areas of Math, science and Reading in the morning and a combination of sports and extracurricular activities in the afternoon. sports help children develop physical and mental skills, get exercise, have fun and learn to play as part of a team while the classes keep their brains alive and engaged for the summer. Lunch is included in the camp as well as an afternoon snack. Children are grouped according to age. Camp hours are from 9:00 am - 4:00 pm. Join the PAww swim club and get lots of practice time at Central Park Pool, a facility that has been recently renovated to meet current UsA swimming depth standards. The program emphasizes training, techniques and teamwork and offers some of the most experienced coaches in the area.

PAww has over 250 swimmers ranging in age from 5 years to college age. swimmers are divided into six groups according to age and ability. All levels of swimmers are welcome to join the team at any time during the season. Visit www.PAww.org
