Commander’s Report The 2018 Boats and Bikes Poker Run Committee was held on Sunday, 3 June. We were able to raise approximately $400 dollars for our charity, “Hope for the Warriors.” This event takes a lot of work to put on, but it also gets our Squadron’s name out there to the boating public. Those that par-ticipated thoroughly enjoyed it and the weather mostly cooperated. To all that helped, THANKS! Our sponsorship was greatly improved this year with: SOS Elite Marine (Nova), Daytona Marina and Boat Works, 95.7 The Hog, Wrapped Up Marine, and Chris Brown Marine. Please remember to say thanks and to patronize those that assist us in our efforts when it’s possible. Our stops were; Halifax Harbor, Daytona Marina and Boat Works, DJ’s Deck Down Under, Down the Hatch and also at Swoopes Boat Ramp. Our Sunday Fathers’ Day outing at Cypress Head Golf Course was fun, but not well attended. After all, it was Fathers’ Day. Over the past few months, We have tried several events on different days instead of our normal third Thursday with very mixed results. As a result, the Executive Com-mittee discussed keeping our “regular” schedule, especially when we return to our regular squadron meetings, Talking about schedule, we are now on our summer schedule with informal dinner get to-gethers and member outings. Enjoy our summer schedule of events and suggest or organize others. By the way, we’ve had several squadron members report that the shoaling at Ponce Inlet continues to get worse. Fortunately, there is supposed to dredging soon. We had three squadron members wrap up their Seamanship Class, and we completed another ABC Class on 23 June. We need to recruit and train some new instructors, and some new Vessel Safety Check examiners. You can either participate, or you can help recruit new members who may be interested in these activities. As you all know, it’s now hurricane season. Florida is always exposed to these storms and we’ve had to deal with Matthew and Irma these past two seasons. Let’s make sure we’re ready for this season. Go over your hurricane plan and be prepared. Again... think of our squadron, Our fish fry was an activity suggested and put together by our members and was an excellent activity/get together. How can you help your squadron grow and fur-ther your own participation? PARTICIPATE…..

HELP ORGANIZE AN ACTIVITY….. MAKE SUGGESTIONS!!!!!

Lucky Star will resume at the September

.

Do not forget that you must be present to win. See you there.

INFORMATION REPORTED AT THE EXECUTIVE MEETING FOR THE MONTH OF June 2018

The official minutes of the Executive Meeting were unavailable. The following is a summery of things discussed at the meeting of June 14h at the Halifax Yacht Club Chart Room.

July Dinner at DJ’s Deck Down Under, August at Little Took Yacht Club. Activities may include Down the Hatch, and Silver Glen. The ESO would like to hold a BOC-Certifier Seminar open to the entire District. The next ABC class starts June 16th and has 6 people signed up. Treasurer report indicated all is satisfactory. The Poker Run did raise funding and after discussion the Ex Committee voted to send proceeds of $400 to HFW. There was considerable discussion of whether alternative dates work for the squadron monthly meetings. It was agreed that except for special occasions such as, Christmas and COW, that we would do our best to hold regular monthly squadron meet-ings on the third Thursday of each month.

Other important notes.

We are currently in need of a Squadron Secretary, if you have the time and talents that will help us please contact Commander Don Roman for consideration.

If you help plan or lead an outing or picnic please contact Lt/C Greg Zahornacy.

Change of watch is coming in March and we will be looking for the key people to move the Squadron forward. Please contact any Executive Committee member if you would like to be considered. Please remember we need everyone's help to keep our squadron active. Thank you!
