Dear Parents and Carers
Thank you to all our staff and parents who assisted of all our
children to prepare for the Speak Out Competition this year.
We were amazed with the effort, and it was very difficult to
select the finalists for the whole school competition on 30th
November.
We would like to thank Emily Hamilton for sending Grace
Neaves from her office and Ralph Sirmulis from Joondalup
Rotary for their assistance on the day with judging the finalists.
We were also happy to receive some financial assistance from
Joondalup Rotary, presented to our school on the day.

Poseidon is going Cashless in 2020 Poseidon Primary School will be changing the way we collect payments. As our society becomes more and
more a cashless society, so is Poseidon. In 2020 teachers will no longer collect cash through the classroom
money book.
Our preferred methods of payment from January 2020 will be:
1. Transfer the money via Direct Deposit in to the school bank account, or
2. By Credit or Debit Card,
a. fill the credit card slip details (example show in purple below) which are attached to
every incursion/excursion letter that goes home, or
b. come in to the office to use the EFPTOS terminal, or
c. phone the front office on 9233 8900 and give your credit card details to the office staff
who can manually process on the EFTPOS terminal.
Throughout 2019 we have been using the credit card slip
as shown on the right and it has become quite popular.
Many parents find it more convenient to fill out a slip and
have their child bring it to school, saving them a visit or
phone call to the front office.
Drop boxes for collection of payments have been installed in
the undercover area, on the right of the canteen and drop
boxes will also be installed in the front office soon. Simply fill
in the credit card slip and place it in the appropriate box.
We are starting to use the undercover area drop boxes now.
Two boxes are set up to collect cash and credit card slips. One
for the Water Fun Day Lunch Orders and the other for
Donations and Sponsorship payments.
It is imperative that cash payments are put into a sealed envelope with the lunch order form or the lapathon
sponsorship form, and put into the correct box, as one is managed by the P&C for the lunch orders and the
other is managed by the school office. Please ensure you enclose the correct cash amount as no change will
be given but will be credited to your account to be used in future transactions.
In 2020, we prefer and encourage parents to make payments by card or direct deposit.
However, we have made it possible for those who can only pay in cash to do so.
In 2020 teachers will not accept payments in the classrooms. They will direct you to
the drop box. Please note that excursion consent and medical forms will still be
required to be given directly to your teacher. You do not need to notify the teacher
when you have made a payment as the school office provides teachers on the due
date with reports on payments.
The Salvation Army Christmas Appeal Last Friday we were joined at our assembly by Peter, a representative from the Salvation Army. Peter
encouraged us to consider those in the community who are in need this Christmas. One of our Year 4
students displayed some fine improvisation skills as she pretended to be a homeless person during the
presentation! We learned of ways we can give support by donating food, supplies and gifts to families
through the Salvos Christmas Appeal.
If you would like to contribute a gift or food item, there will be a box set up in each classroom in the coming
weeks. Items must be new. Please do not wrap gifts – this allows parents the dignity of choosing gifts for
their child. Below are some suggestions which might help you.

Puzzles and games
Art and craft packs

One of our key statements about this term’s virtue is: “Consideration is remembering that other people’s
needs are as important as your own.”
Our hope is that the children will experience the joy of giving through this project and that this statement
will come alive for them.
Thanking you for your kind support

Water Fun Day & Lapathon Thank you to all our parents and community members for assisting us with sponsorship, assistance on the
day. The students are working hard on getting staff members names on the list to be dunked. We would like
to thank our wonderful P&C, Emily Hamilton and Joondalup Rotary for assisting us with sponsoring our
waterslides, this means more money to the school to spend on playground equipment.
Parents are most welcome to join us on Friday, 15 November, starting at 11 am on the oval and Kindy / PP
area. The whole school will be having a picnic lunch together under the trees at 12:30 pm – 12:50 pm, an
ice-cream van and a coffee van available for parents and students.
We have hired some slides for 3 hours from Monsterball which will stop at 2 pm, but the fun will continue
in small groups for another 20 minutes. Children will then help us to pack away before home time at 2.40
pm
The weather forecast looks pleasant for the day, and we are looking forward to having a lot of fun.
Our sponsorship money will be collected and we would like to have all the money to the school by the next
Friday, 22 November please.
Hope to see you on the day to join us in the fun.
