Alongside the academic curriculum,
we consider the gaining of life skills to
be essential for young people to
positively develop and flourish in an
ever-changing world.
most appropriate methods in order to
engage every student in the class-
room.
Our focus is on providing all our
students with positive learning
experiences in an environment that is
encouraging, active, unbiased and
inclusive.
In our school, we seek to remove the
dichotomy that exists between ‘core’
subjects – science and math, and the
arts, which are too often considered
peripheral.
We seek to identify and validate
individual areas of passion and talent
At Deccan International School, we
offer a dynamic curriculum that is
forward-looking, creative and
relevant; that we believe will equip
our students with the essential skills
and knowledge to flourish in a global
community.
Vision Statement:
“To provide an empowering learning environment that nurtures empathy and inquiry in students, enabling
them to excel in an ever-changing world.”
Philosophy of Education :
True learning is a unique, on-going
and lifelong experience for each child
which begins even before he/she
enters school. Our most important job
as educators is to always keep this in
sight as we teach our children ‘how to
learn’ and cultivate in them a
continuing enthusiasm for inquiry.
We believe that each child is an
individual with an inborn drive to
learn. In addition, they have very
individual styles in which they best
learn. We work hard to identify and
nurture individual learning styles and
apply a creative combination of the
in our students, as this could help
them develop a lifelong skill and gain
wider opportunities for success.
The representatives from the EDU AHEAD group
interacted with the parents and students of grade
10 and above. The session was conducted on 19th
November 2016 in the school premises. Students
were made aware of an aptitude test they can take
to judge their skills.
Further studies and career awareness program was held
on 21 September 2016 for students of Gr 10 and above
and their parents. Many universities from USA had their
representatives address our students. Information was
given on the courses offered, the facilities provided and the
fee structure. Information kiosks were set up after all the
students had been addressed and students interacted with
the representatives on a one to one basis. Brochures and
leaflets distributed to the students, gave them a brief idea
about the universities there.
The session was addressed to the students of Gr 10 and
above of both ICSE and CIE stream. Dr Khwaja spoke to
the boys and girls on ways to manage time. Examples
were cited and tips given to students on ways to de-stress
themselves while making efficient use of time. An insight
was given to students on the wide variety of career options
that was available.
The students interacted with Dr Khwaja and many of their
queries were answered by him.
The students were informed of the wide choice of
careers they have before them and they need not
follow the well trodden path of opting for
Engineering or Medicine field only. There was an
interactive session with the parents and students
as well .

Halloween was celebrated on
Friday, 28/10/16. Students of K2
and K3 were allowed to wear
tattoos / head gear appropriate
for the event. We generally
speak about, celebrate and do
activities for Indian festivals but
for once we wanted to bring in
something global. The creative
participation was infectious and
we were glad to see the happy
faces.
All children are asked to introduce themselves and speak about their
role, which in turn boosts their confidence.
Each year the level of creativity has increased tremendously. With the
enthusiastic participation the competition ended with a bang…!
The Fancy Dress is one of the competitions
in Early Years which we all look forward to
every year as it is a very colourful and
festive event. We see all tiny tots dressed
up in various attire, eager to perform their
role and inquisitive to know about their
fellow mates costume.
As always, even this year we saw
tremendous effort from the parents to
create the costume for their little ones.

On 14th November we celebrated
Children's' Day with festivity at the Early
Years level in our campus.
Mr Chandrasekhar, a magician, was
invited to entertain our children with his
tricks. They really enjoyed his show.
They were all very engrossed, excited
and surprised with all that he was
presenting.
They also had their snack treats on the
beautiful lawn where they sat with their
friends, shared and enjoyed eating out
together. The school also treated our
children with cream- buns.
Our children had a gala time!!!

November to the 24th, drawing an over-
whelming response from the
parents.
This year saw activities like
Story Reading sessions in English and
other Indian languages by parents,
Newspaper reading, Read-A-Thon and
Poetry Reading during the week .
Children enjoyed these sessions with the
parent - story tellers with good interaction. It
was a wonderful experience for the children,
parents and the staff alike.
The School Enterprise Challenge is a
real-time business opportunity for the
students of Deccan International School,
Bangalore, to explore their inherent
potential in creativity, leadership and
management. It is an opportunity given to
start and run a business undertaking and
in the process giving them the exposure
to the rigours of managing their own busi-
ness venture.This has inspired
them in understanding
the intricacies of man-
agement in terms of
time, finance and peo-
ple, just to name a few.
With sincere efforts and
energetic exuberance of
the students, the
business took shape and in no time the
plan was put into action and the eco-
friendly products were ready for sale.
The product was launched by the Dean
of the school on 27th October, 2016 and
organic products from the first phase of
production were sold. Going by the tre-
mendous response and appreciation
received, it is beyond doubt that the
School Enterprise Challenge is here to
stay and go galloping in the months to
come.
