Palmer Gene Garsjo, age 59, joinedhis mother in heaven on December 4,2013, passing peaceully in Glasgowwith his always-caring niece Jodiat this side. Funeral services arescheduled or Friday, December 13th,at 11:00 a.m., at the First Lutheran
Church in Glasgow, Montana. Palmer was born June 15, 1954 toHartvik and Agnes (Buen) Garsjo,in Glasgow, M. He grew up on theamily arm North o Nashua withhis parents, his five sisters and twobrothers. Palmer was intrigued withmechanics o arm equipment; hestudied arming magazines and thenwould quietly fix arm equipmentwhen his Dad wasnt looking! Palmeralso liked to help, whether giving pillsto a sick cal or instinctively sortingout a mother cow rom the herd rightbeore she calved. Living on the arm
had opportunities not available intown driving the pickup or truckand having a blast no matter how coldoutside, driving the snowmobile atull throttle. He never had an accidentbut Richard saw the snowmobile flyover a hump in the yard, Palmer said,WOW!. Palmer graduated rom NashuaHigh School in 1978 with his sisterLisa. o work at the Glasgow MilkRiver Activity Center, Palmer initiallystayed with Dennis and Sue and tookup lawn mowing around Glasgow; hethen lived with cousin Sandra (Garsjo)
Goffs amily, and then to his ownapartment in the ransitional LivingCenter (LC) where he lived until hisleg bones broke, and finally at ValleyView. Palmer loved to sing. Althoughhe was off key, his pure joy o singingand pretending to hold a microphone
made or many happytimes. He had his own mikewhen joining the singersat the Assembly o Godservices across the streetrom his home. At onepoint Kenny Rogers wasPalmers unquestionableavorite singer. He wore a
Kenny Rogers t-shirt andmany buttons o the star.Another highlight was a tripto Disneyland. He enjoyedliving lie to the ullest andhe was liked and admired byhis amily and community. He wouldnt miss the annualNortheast Montana air androdeo. At Christmas, Palmerwould surprise his nieces, nephews and riends witha visit rom Santa. He alsoplayed hide and seek but Palmer
would find the kids even when theythought they were really hidden. oentertain his nephews, he would shootNer darts at them. One nephew saidto another nephew: Hes a pretty cooluncle. Staying fit and trim was a constant.Palmer learned to shoot hoops in thebarn, later on the outdoor courts inGlasgow. He played on the SpecialOlympic teams. He would shoot reethrows during hal-time at the Scottiesgames, was an avid Scotties an, honoredby the Scotties on special occasions andwhen Bob Farrell presented him with a
Scotties letterman jacket, Palmer woreit proudly, nearly continually and now, orever. Besides attending many OlympicState meets around Montana, in the1990s Palmer traveled to NC with hishoopsters team, placing 4th in theWorld Games. Te Governor o M
came to Glasgow to present them theirtrophies. Speaking o the Governor,
Palmer could have been a politicianwhen you consider these attributes extending his hand first to meet orgreet others, waving, saying hello andhow are you, smiling, making you eelcomortable in his presence, makingan appearance at private parties andthen making sure his photo ended upin the local papers. His co-workers, job coaches, andapartment mates at LC ound Palmerto be the glue, the cheerul, even-tempered guy in the complex. At hiswork site or 35 years under the topnotch care o the Milk River Activity
Center staff, Palmer demonstrated hisindependence and started his papershredding business, Secure Shreds, walking to business customers toshred their documents. You couldfind Palmer out delivering the GoodEvening Glasgow and Te Buzz daily. Palmer was preceded in death by his

the other northeast Montana communities (Sidney,Wol Point, Glendive and Havre) gave Cape Air athumbs-up to come here afer the Florida-based SilverAirways decided to cease its Montana operations andnot renew the ederal contract with the Department oransportation. Tat relationship (Silver Airways in northeastMontana) was turning into sour grapes because ounreliability, anyway. Cape Airs ounder and team realize this scenario theyve been there, done that.
What we want is positive airline chatter, notnegative airline chatter, Dan stressed. Weve been onthe heels o the negative chatter.
What sets us apart is that our entire leadershipteam is here today, says Dan. We love what we do, welove the communities we serve, and we really want tohelp ulfill your community needs.
Cape Air will be making approximately 140,000
Its been a little while since the Glasgow International Airport has seen this much trafc. In the foreground, travelers await to boardCape Airs inaugural ight out of Glasgow; in the background, people begin gathering for a meet-&-greet of Cape Air personnel.
Cape Air continued from front flights in the first year with saety the #1 agenda ollowedby good service. Will there be any glitches? Probably so.Dans answer to that? Any relationship needs trust and honesty, hesays, the close bond we make with communities is intreating you honestly. Larry Mires brought up the question: What iGlasgow sees growth to the point that two Cessna (ninepassenger limit) trips a day isnt enough, will you bringin bigger planes? On the contrary, according to Mr. Wol. In act,Cape Air wanted to commit to three flights a day
between Glasgow and Billings; the DO would onlyallow two. He eels that more flights with the Cessna402s is a more convenient service; Sidney has five flightsa day with the 402s. Dan is confident that Glasgow willsee more flights in the uture. We have seen our-old increases in ridershipwhen Cape Air takes over, he was proud to say. Werehere or the long run.
