MASS INTENTIONS FOR THE WEEK

Dear Parishioners:

I am so happy to announce that we’ve had yet another first experience here at St. Peter the Apostle School. After establishing a newly formed Home and School Association, the organizers have put together a movie night for children to enjoy with friends and class-mates while their parents en-joy some well-deserved free time. The event was entitled: “Parents Night Out... Kids Night In!” The President of the H.S.A., Shakira Clark, alongside the Vice President, Maria Huff, and the secretary/treasurer, Jannine Malave, wonderfully pulled off a suc-cessful event with the help of generous volunteers for an evening of food, film, and fun!

The school children had a wonderful time as they came with their pajamas, pillows, and sleeping bags to enjoy an old classic film... “Home Alone.” The kids en-joyed pizza from George’s Pizza (who’s kids had previ-ously attended our Catholic School), they also enjoyed fresh popcorn and water ice for dessert. Lastly, the partici-pants, 52 children in all, practiced the “Electric Slide” and other group dances while they waited for their par-ents and family to pick them up. As Sr. Danielle Truex and I watched the kids laugh, play, and enjoy themselves, we were so very grateful for the work of the H.S.A. members and for all of the T.L.C. that went into planning this delightful event for the school children. The joy on the kids’ faces could not have been more obvious.

When it was time to go, I approached one child and told her that her parent was here to pick her up to which she respond-ed, “Oh, darn” because she really didn’t want to see the night end so soon. The volunteers, however, looked a little more like wilted flowers at the end of the night. I think most of them had dreams of getting to bed for some well-deserved rest as fast as their legs could carry them. I am so grateful for the volunteers and children who helped clean up the hall at the end of the
