December 25, 2016 • The Nativity of the Lord “For in the mystery of the Word made flesh a new light of your glory has shone upon the eyes of our mind …” (Preface I of the Nativity of the Lord). The mystery of the incarnation of our God is the center of our celebration. Everything that was foretold by the prophets came to its fulfilment. The Son of God became flesh. This is the truth that seems to be removed from our society, from schools, work places, streets. More and more we hear “Happy Holidays”. We are witnesses to slowly removing Christ from our life. And very often, silently we give permission to it. It seems that there is not much difference between the time when Christ was born and now. He was born in a manger because there was no place for him. Now, He is born as an outcast because of political correctness. The One owning the universe is again rejected by people. Convenience and being spiritually lukewarm closes the door for Christ. This Christmas we are looking again at the manger where Jesus Christ is surrounded by the Blessed Virgin Mary and Saint Joseph. Both of them give us testimony of faith in silence. No words, no complaints, no self-pity. They know exactly what happened. Emmanuel God is with us was just born and this is the most important, the most precious truth. We are joining their silence, their peace and joy. If God is with us there is nothing of which we should be afraid. If God is with us, then we should be with Him in union with His sacraments. May Almighty God bless you and your families. May He give you peace and joy that lasts. Open your hearts, your homes and welcome our Savior. Merry Christmas!

December 25, 2016 • The Nativity of the Lord

“For in the mystery of the Word made flesh a new light of your glory has shone upon the eyes of our mind

…” (Preface I of the Nativity of the Lord).

The mystery of the incarnation of our God is the center of our celebration. Everything that was foretold by the

prophets came to its fulfilment. The Son of God became flesh. This is the truth that seems to be removed from

our society, from schools, work places, streets. More and more we hear “Happy Holidays”. We are witnesses to

slowly removing Christ from our life. And very often, silently we give permission to it. It seems that there is not

much difference between the time when Christ was born and now. He was born in a manger because there was no

place for him. Now, He is born as an outcast because of political correctness. The One owning the universe is

again rejected by people. Convenience and being spiritually lukewarm closes the door for Christ.

This Christmas we are looking again at the manger where Jesus Christ is surrounded by the Blessed Virgin Mary

and Saint Joseph. Both of them give us testimony of faith in silence. No words, no complaints, no self-pity. They

know exactly what happened. Emmanuel – God is with us – was just born and this is the most important, the

most precious truth. We are joining their silence, their peace and joy. If God is with us there is nothing of which

we should be afraid. If God is with us, then we should be with Him in union with His sacraments.

May Almighty God bless you and your families. May He give you peace and joy that lasts. Open your hearts,

your homes and welcome our Savior.

Merry Christmas!

The Society of St. Vincent de Paul at Pax Christi

Today we celebrate the feast of Christmas and hear how the shepherds found Mary and Joseph and the infant lying in the manger. Then they left glorifying and praising God for all they had heard and seen.

Your gifts to the Society of St. Vincent

de Paul helped those who are poor and

suffering to find Emmanuel and they

also came to know that

“God is with us.”

Prayer Shawl

Are you or someone you know going through a difficult time, and are in need of comfort? A Prayer Shawl is like a comforting hug to anyone in need. Prayer strips can be kept in a pocket or purse, and give comfort in a situation where a prayer shawl is too large or inappropriate. Both are creat-ed lovingly and prayerfully by mem-bers of the Prayer Shawl ministry and are blessed.

We need volunteers to help make shawls on Tuesdays from 1:00 p.m. -3:00 p.m. in the Christi Center or on your own. For more information, contact Loreen Vaughn at [email protected].

Newcomers Ministry

Our mission is to welcome all

new parishioners to be part of

our Parish community.

We greet new and incoming parish-ioners and welcome them into the life of the Parish. We also assist by offering information for ministry involvement.

If you enjoy meeting new people, this ministry is perfect for you! Contact Jan Morgan at 303-378-

2589 or [email protected], if you are interested.

Retrouvaille

Marriage Help – Retrouvaille (pronounced retro-vi) has helped tens of thousands of couples at all stages of disillusionment or misery in their mar-riage. This program can help you, too. For confidential information call (303) 317-5111 or visit the website at www.HelpOurMarriage.com.

J.O.Y. Ministry

The J.O.Y. Ministry takes communion to Catholic patients at Sky Ridge Hospital 365 days a year. We are in

need of additional volunteers.

You are needed to help your fellow parishioners by taking them Holy Communion following the Sunday Mass you attend. The parish receives a number of requests for assistance—some long term while others for a week or two.

If you would like to give of yourself to patients in need and can give up to an hour of your time once or twice a month, please contact Ken Hood at 303-596-7605.

The Catholic Legacy

Society was created to honor our legacy donors who have named their parish, Catholic school or a ministry of the Diocese of Colorado Springs as a beneficiary in their will or trust, retirement account, charitable gift annuity or charitable trust, life insurance policy, or through the establishment of an endowed fund.

The Diocese is grateful to acknowledge these special benefactors during their lifetimes. And, in conjunc-tion with our mission, this special society provides an opportunity for benefactors to make their philanthropy a perpetual legacy for themselves and an example for their families. It also creates an infrastructure of support that makes our parishes, schools and ministries stronger, sustainable and better equipped to reach future generations.

If you have named your parish, a Catholic school or a ministry of the Diocese of Colorado Springs in your estate plan, or are considering doing so, we invite you to become a member of the Catholic Legacy Society.
