December Accomplishments: Community/Government Relations

• Conducted an Urban Design Committee meeting on December 12, 2006

  • Provided a tour of the Expo right-of-way for Gloria Jeff, General

Manager, LADOT   • Disseminated notices regarding (Tree Removal) activities to

businesses and residents along Flower Street on December 14, 2006

• Met with administrators, parents and teachers in schools to provide construction schedule and safety information tips.

• Met with USC and Expo Park Stakeholders to discuss Urban Design elements for the project

• Conducted business assessments to coordinate access and various other needs prior to start of construction activities.

• Continued real estate acquisition and lease termination activities.

• Abandonment of Parcel WE-616 completed; Funds returned from the Court. Negotiated attorney’s fees with two of owner’s attorneys. 

• One parcel acquired; five offers pending • Continued supplemental hazardous materials investigations along

the Metro right-of-way

• Received and reviewed responses to the RFQ to select Community and Faith-Based Organizations to recruit, screen and train individuals to participate in the Local Jobs Program.

• Hired local workers th10rough PV Jobs for intermittent work to distribute construction notices throughout the Corridor

• Continued to update database of individuals interested in seeking employment with the Expo Local Jobs Program

• Hosted Job Fair at construction field office to recruit employees for Infinity Protection Services, a local firm hired to provide security services along the Expo corridor.

• Hired a Contracts Manager through a DBE firm
