*SEE REVISED DATE FOR CHRISTMAS FAMILY DINNER ON THURSDAY DECEMBER 20TH.* I would like to begin by thanking the families and students who attended our Parent/Teacher interviews on November 15th. We had a fabulous turnout. PACI staff, so appreciate meeting families and working together toward creating successful learners. Thank you so much!. This year, we are continuing to track student attendance. As we often say, research links success achieving credits to excellent attendance! Students should focus on attending their classes at least 90% of the time. We understand that illness and life outside of school sometimes happens but making school attendance a priority is also important to graduation. Please talk to your student about what their monthly attend- ance is and help them set goals to improve. At PACI, homerooms are challenging each other for the best monthly attendance. The best home- room gets a pizza lunch. Congrats to Ms. Jordan and Ms. Klein’s home- rooms! We have had students participate in many activities in October and No- vember developing literacy skills outside of the school. Students helped with the Fall Food Fair, attended a court hearing and toured the Sas- katchewan Penitentiary. Please join us for a couple of PACI Christmas traditions: Our annual PACI Winter Showcase on Wednesday, December 5th at 7:00. It will promise to be a great evening of performances featuring our Drama, Dance and Music students this semester. PACI Family Dinner is served on Thursday, December 21st at 12:00. Families are invited to join us. We will recognize deserving students with Bear Award presentations, eat plenty of turkey and share fellow- ship. Enjoy your Winter holiday! When we return, we will have a busy 3 weeks until Semester 1 final assessments begin! Remember to check schedules for our final assessment schedule. Semester 2 starts on Wednesday, January 30th. *SEE REVISED DATE FOR CHRISTMAS FAMILY DINNER ON

THURSDAY DECEMBER 20TH.*

I would like to begin by thanking the families and students who attended

our Parent/Teacher interviews on November 15th. We had a fabulous

toward creating successful learners. Thank you so much!.

This year, we are continuing to track student attendance. As we often

say, research links success achieving credits to excellent attendance!

Students should focus on attending their classes at least 90% of the

time. We understand that illness and life outside of school sometimes

happens but making school attendance a priority is also important to

graduation. Please talk to your student about what their monthly attend-

ance is and help them set goals to improve. At PACI, homerooms are

challenging each other for the best monthly attendance. The best home-

room gets a pizza lunch. Congrats to Ms. Jordan and Ms. Klein’s home-

rooms!

We have had students participate in many activities in October and No-

vember developing literacy skills outside of the school. Students helped

with the Fall Food Fair, attended a court hearing and toured the Sas-

katchewan Penitentiary.

Please join us for a couple of PACI Christmas traditions:

Our annual PACI Winter Showcase on Wednesday, December 5th at

7:00. It will promise to be a great evening of performances featuring

our Drama, Dance and Music students this semester.

PACI Family Dinner is served on Thursday, December 21st at 12:00.

Families are invited to join us. We will recognize deserving students

with Bear Award presentations, eat plenty of turkey and share fellow-

ship.

Enjoy your Winter holiday! When we return, we will have a busy 3 weeks

until Semester 1 final assessments begin! Remember to check schedules

for our final assessment schedule. Semester 2 starts on Wednesday,

ATTEND TODAY, ACHIEVE TOMORROW

This is the slogan above our attendance bulletin board. We believe attendance is not only directly linked to aca-demic achievement, but also an important life skill. At the end of each month, students have been provided with an attendance report displaying all lates and absences (both excused and not excused). Students then cal-culate the percent of classes they have attended. Smiles all around when some realize they had no calculations to do as they had not missed one class! Homeroom teachers are reinforcing the correlation between attendance and achievement and supporting students in developing their own strategies for getting to school. We recognize student attendance during assemblies where excellent attenders receive certificates.

Help us make school attendance a priority:

Talk about the importance of showing up to school everyday, make that the expectation.

Help your child maintain daily routines, such as finishing homework and getting a good night’s sleep.

Try not to schedule dental and medical appointments during the school day.

Don’t let your child stay home unless truly sick. Complaints of headaches or stomach aches may be signs of anxiety.

HOMEROOM NEWS

Are you on track to achieve your credits How do your CSL’s look in each class? Are you aiming for an exemption? These are some of the questions homeroom teachers discussed when students reviewed their midterm report card. The scheduled homeroom is supporting our school mission of “Building a strong community to achieve suc-cess” in many ways including providing instructional support, building relationships and creating a space of be-longing.

PACI BOYS VOLLEYBALL

The volleyball season has officially come to an end. The PACI boys volleyball team made huge progress throughout the season and participated in several games and tournaments along the way. We were also able to compete at conferences in Melfort. This brought on new challenges and a new perspective on how to play the game. Although the boys did not advance, they defi-nitely showed them what it means to play PACI volleyball. It was a fantastic season filled with laughter, hard work, determination and sportsmanship. Congratulations boys on a fantastic season!

SENIOR GIRLS VOLLEYBALL

Our Senior Girls volleyball team had a great development year. We had tournaments in St. Louis, St. Mary’s and Carlton. We played hard at every tournament and got noticeably stronger on and off the court as a team. We played league at Carlton and showed huge improvements every week. We entered conferences in La Ronge and finished in 2nd place, qualifying for Regionals in Nipawin the following weekend. We had some tough matches and did not qualify for Provincials. We were very pleased with how our season turned out. The girls worked hard every week and they were a dedicated team. We finished the season off by go-ing to a U of S Huskie volleyball game. It was a great end to a great season. Looking forward to next sea-son!.
