‘VOGUE’ IMAGE

This image shows the way in which magazine’s like vogue will pose their models in order to create an affective impact on the reader. This models pose elongates her body making her physique look slimmer than it may indeed be and it makes the model look of taller build. As well as the pose the cut of the dress with the section missing from the back helps to make her body look slimmer. Taking most of the models hair away from her face but leaving the front down helps to elongate her face making her physique slim from head to toe.

The models facial expression makes her look desirable to the audience. Having her peering out means we can instantly connect with her and this accompanying the pose suggest that there is more to be desired about her like she is hiding a hidden secret. The male audience are going to be instantly attracted to this model as she is slim, tall and blonde which stereotypically most males go for. Magazines like Vogue set a lot of the stereotypes that women are supposed to live up to as all of the models throughout the magazine will be posed and dressed like this, They create the image that all girls should be size 0, blonde and should all wear make up and provocative clothing.

‘ROLLING STONES’ MODEL

In comparison to the Vogue model this model looks of a larger build as we cannot see where her stomach/waste ends as her t-shirt blends in with the background. This forward view can also be seen to make her seem less desirable to a male audience in comparison to the previous model due to the create stereotypes that have become apparent over the years. The model being posed with her hand facing the audience creates a physical barrier between the audience and model which causes the reader to be less connected with the model although it also adds a sense of mystery as they want to know what she is blocking us from.

The models make up is over exaggerated which will help to catch a readers eye. The image connects to a certain audience rather than to a gender or specific age target. Unlike the Vogue model this model is likes to connect to those interested in a rock genre of music rather than those who may find the model sensual. The make up and the hair of the model causes us to believe that this is more like a front to hide from the audience what she is really like or what kind of person she actually is. Having the models clothes a similar colour to the background also helps to add a sense of mystery which cause the reader to want to learn more.

‘MIZZ’ MODEL

Having a natural but coloured background helps to add a sense of innocence to the model in the image. In accompaniment to the background colour the innocent smile of the model and the casual clothes that are commonly worn by most teenagers helps to add a sense of normality to the model and makes her highly relatable to the teenage audience. Her hair and make up are also very natural which gives the sense of innocence to the model. The colours on the belt and the bracelet worn by the model are colours that are commonly used to support peace and purity which helps to set an impression about the model.

This image is suitable for the teenage magazine MIZZ as it sets a correct impression for the intended audience. The model also appears relatable even to those who are older or younger. The model looking out and smiling to the audience gives a friendly appearance which causes the younger reader to see her as a friend as well as someone to look up to. The models body language is also more open which helps to add to the friendly appearance suggest by the way the model is dressed.

‘RED MODEL’

The instant links that can be made are through the representations of colour. The colour of the background and the colour of the lipstick have the connotations of love, romance, danger and passion. The costume worn by the model also helps to accompany these representations as the model is showing a lot of her skin, showing her tummy gives the audience the ability to see her figure and the showing of her cleavage makes her seem sexual to a male audience making her highly desirable to them. The choker around her neck can also be seen to give many suggestions to an audience for example, a dog is known to wear a collar so It can be seen as a suggestion that the model likes to be taken charge of.

Although the back ground and the colour of the clothes being worn by the model are used to clearly make the model stand out the use of having the red back ground and red lipstick can be seen as a common theme as well as drawing the readers attention to her lips which is done as lips can be seen to represent, love, passion, attraction and seduction. The messy half up half down hair also helps to add a sense of seduction and gives the appearance of ‘making love’. As well as this the make up around the models eyes although matches the clothing also contrasts with the models blue eyes and makes them stand out to the audience making the model almost immediately connect with the reader as it is one of the first things they will notice about the model.

‘TOPLESS’ MODEL

Like the rolling stones model having a topless male model on a grey background which they almost blend in to helps to make the model look more muscular than they may be, this is deceiving but affective and is used with most male topless models. Using a topless model is affective when trying to sell a particular item of clothing, in this instance the Calvin Klein boxers. This is because with being the only item on the model it makes them more prominent to the reader. The pose of the model is seductive, pacing his hand on his hip causes the attention of the reader to be drawn to this area so the reader is instantly aware of the abs that the model has.

Likewise having the models fingers running through his hair gives the sense of tiredness suggesting that he may have been recently working out, this gives the audience a lot to wonder and infer so they start to connect with the model more than if the model was just stood straight on. Although the model is attractive this is not the primary audience, a topless man is likely to motivate others who are aspiring to be more muscular so images like this one can be used to promote gym use or the purchasing of protein shakes and other products like these. The rule of thirds is clearly demonstrated here and helps to entice the audience to a higher degree.

‘PROMO’ MODEL

The background of this image can be seen to link with the model as the colour of the models skin is similar to the colour of the background. In a sense this helps to make the clothes stand out even more than they have done. The pose of the model clearly shows the way in which the clothes will make you feel confident and relaxed at all times. Although the image does show a full outfit it still enable the reader to feel a sense of creativity as the shoes are not actually shown so this is where the reader could add a personal twist on the outfit.

It is obvious that this image is used to promote the clothing so therefore the audience for this image is going to be a male who will have the money to buy clothing like this, commonly this will mean your more stylish group of people so either upper or middle class if we were to follow common stereotypes. The models body language is also very open and relaxed which makes it more inviting for the reader and makes them feel more friendly with them like the MIZZ model.
