The Online Beneficiaries Services available through Fidelity NetBenefits is a straightforward, convenient process that takes just minutes. Perhaps you never designated your beneficiaries, or you’ve had a life-changing event – marriage, domestic partnership, divorce, birth of a child, or a death in the family. We urge you to take just a minute and add your beneficiary, or make sure your beneficiary information is up to date.

To add a beneficiary, or to check your current designation, logon to NetBenefits at www.fidelity.com/atwork and select “Beneficiaries” in the “Your Profile” sec-tion. You can then designate your beneficiaries for your 401(k) and/or 457 Plan accounts and receive instant online confirmation. If you have both a 401(k) and a 457 Plan account, you’ll need to designate beneficiaries for each Plan. Take the time to make sure your wishes are followed in the event of your death, and designate your beneficiaries online today.

INTRODUCING A NEW PROGRAM Presented by EAP

LUNCH-TIME WITH TED

What are the TED Talks?TED conferences are onl ine presentat ions that br ing together the world’s most fas-cinat ing thinkers and doers who are witty, funny, and creat ive. Each are chal lenged to give the talk of their l ives ( in 18 minutes or less) . Speakers are chosen because they are exper ts in their respec-t ive f ie lds who bel ieve passionately in the power of ideas to change att i tudes, l ives and, ult imately, the world.

What is the Lunch Time with TED series? With more than 1500 TED Talks avai lable , and more added each week , EAP staff continue to identi fy and select presentat ions we bel ieve can have a deep impact on the wel lness of employees both at work and at home. Gen-erat ing dialogue around TED Talks can be fun, invigorat ing and profoundly educat ional . Al l i t takes is a lunch break , a reser ved space, and EAP wi l l do the rest . EAP can come once monthly for a selected ser ies or just “show up” with a surpr ise presentat ion each month. Interested staff can br ing their lunch and enjoy a shared lunchtime experience that includes a topical TED conference presentat ion and discussion faci l i tated by EAP staff. Each pre-sentat ion provides inspirat ion, educat ion, and up-to-date knowledge on var ious topics that are sure to posit ively impact your outlook on l i fe , work , and yourself. I f interested, give EAP a cal l .

A re you haunted by the ghosts of Resolut ions Past? Don’ t le t that scare you of f making resolut ions

for heal th ier habi ts th is year. People who make new year ’s resolut ions are more l ike ly to succeed. Boost the chances of success wi th these t ips:

4Avoid perfectionism. Don’t set lofty goals and then punish yourself when you fail to achieve them.

4Resolve ambivalence. If you are not sure of the benefits of the change or feel your goal is not really important or doable, this can weaken your commitment to take action. Register for the Wellness Profile to get a personalized risk assessment that can help you identify important health goals and boost your motivation to change.

4Take the long view. Developing and maintaining healthy habits is a lifelong process. This is not a one chance deal. Envision the whole year and the ups and downs you may encounter on the way. Be flexible and realistic. Focus on recognizing and building on success.

4Use positive peer pressure. Surround yourself with people who value a positive attitude towards healthy life habits. Search out a mentor, someone who is already doing what you want to do. For example, start walking with the people in your office that always walk on break. Build a community of support by attending Wellness classes, enroll-ing in the CSA, joining a gym or meeting with a Wellness Program health coach..

This Year, It Will Be Different...Set SMART Goals

S peci f ic M easurable A chievable R eal is t ic T imedExamples:

a I w i l l walk 10 minutes at morning break M-F. NOT: I wi l l get f i t next year.

a I w i l l take 2 p ieces of f ru i t to work for snacks. NOT: I wi l l eat bet ter f rom now on.

a I wil l join the Wellness “Guilt-Free Weight Loss” program. NOT: I ’ve got to get th inner r ight now.

Take a different approach! Don’t like to exercise? Don’t do it. Instead, have some fun. Begin by ex-panding your definition of exercise. You don’t have to sweat or grunt—any opportunity to be active counts! Jump rope with your kids, buy yourself a Hula Hoop, or play a game of Frisbee with your dog. Find the fun in a short break walk with the Wellness Program’s Fun Walk and win a pedometer!

Reconnect with the joy of movement with low stress activities like tai chi, yoga, or stretching classes. Take up bowling or go out dancing with friends. Focus, above all, on the pleasure of physical activity and redis-cover your body as a source of energy and strength.

The more you move, the more you will move. Remember Newton’s law of physics, “A body in motion tends to stay in motion.”

New Fitness RulesThink you know the drill on shaping up and slimming down? Think again.Old school: Working out is the only way to stay trimNew rule: Your whole day comes into play

It is total daily energy use, not just how many calories you burn during exercise, that will ultimately make a difference in your health and fitness.

Every time you stand up and move, you are involved in non-exercise activity, otherwise known as spontaneous activity. No matter how you move, when you move more you burn more calories. The difference could be as much as 350 calories per day.

Resources Available to YOU!Tips for Communicating

When Your Loved One has DementiaAdapted f rom an ar t i c le by Mar iana Cont i fea tu red in YHC Magaz ine , Dec .2013 (yhconnec t ion .com)

As your loved one’s dementia grows more severe, you will start to observe several changes. He or she may forget to eat or forget how to complete even the most simple of tasks. Another likely change is that communicating with them will become more difficult. The disease pro-cess is largely to account for this.

As more of their brain is damaged, they may forget how to speak or how to understand what is being said to them. Since dementia primarily affects older adults, they may also experience age-related declines in vision and hearing that make communication harder. Here are several suggestions to help you communicate with your loved one at different stages of cognitive impairment: (CLICK HERE TO READ THE ENTIRE ARTICLE.)
