Changeman a##ears to *e o*s%ure sentai among the English s#eaking toku fans. !arely talked a*outor mentioned. -ust a##ears to *e a strange little foot note to the term 00Pre12yu00. / term de+elo#ed*y English s#eaking Po'er !angers fan to refer to all sentai #re%eding 2yurangers. inally the t'o female mem*ers of the Changeman enter the s#otlight. Sayake and 7ai are greats%hara%ters 3 feel this 'ay 6ust *y the %harm and gra%e *oth of them #ossess. Personalities 'ise theydon0t seem to *e that different from female rangers of their kind from the Sho'a era. But *elie+e'hat make them 'ork more is the military setting and theme. &he military is often a maledominated en+ironment and 'here mas%ulinity is often flaunted around. /ny female in su%h anen+ironment 'ill *e striking. &his e#isode may ha+e taken the title of my fa+orite e#isode of Changeman from e#isode . 3n thise#isode the red ranger &surugi gets the most fo%us. &aro or Demos 'hen he is in s#a%e *east formsent *y the ozma to #ose as &surgi0s friend and get the 'herea*outs of the Changeman0s *asefrom &surugi 'hen he is se#arated from his friends. &surugi starts trusting him 'hen &aros gi+es off00Earth or%e00 similar to the Changeman. E+en &aros question his desire to fight for the omza *uthe is za##ed *y ozma for%i*ly turned into a S#a%e Beast. &hus %onsequently atta%king theChangeman for%ing the Changeman to defend themsel+es.

3n this e#isode a##ealed to me *e%ause it ga+e &surgi0s some fo%us. /t first glan%e &surgi has all ofthe makings of a great leader. ?e is a *ra+e5 selfless5 %harismati%5 determined5 honora*le anddis%i#lined man. So in an another 'ay thise#isode also e4%els at #ro+iding a great *a%kstory for a %hara%ter. 3 thought Dr. ,umaza'a 'ouldredeem himself some ho' *ut he remains a *astard through and through. /s he is fine 'ith *eing a

She has her o'n grou# of ?idrer Soldiers to %ommandal*eit she has outfitted them 'ith a s#e%ial 'ea#on of her o'n5 'hi%h is su##lied *y her S#a%e Beast'orking for her. &aking #la%e 'ithin the *a%kdro# of the Dut%h quarter ser+es gi+es the e#isode a

different +isual look to it. /lmost gi+ing the a##earan%e of a Dut%h %ity. E+en 'ith the stereoty#i%alDut%h 'indmills to *oot too; But the e#isode0s 'eak as#e%t may *e the su*#lot of ?ayate0sdisa##earan%e. /s its re+ealed he 'asn0t %a#tured *ut sim#ly hiding from his friends *e%ause hedidn0t 'ant them to kno' he 'as tri%ked *y a 'oman again. i+en the gra+ity of the situation5 itseems strange he 'ould %on%ern himself 'ith su%h a thing. But it does fit his %hara%ter some 'hatsin%e he seems a guy 'ith a fragile ego. But my fa+orite moment in the e#isode may *e the s%ene'hen ?ayate is on a *oat s#eeding through the 'ater and as he fight off %ou#le of a ?idrer Soldiers*y kno%king them into the 'ater. 3ts +ery fast #a%ed and tense to 'at%h. &he s#eed at 'hi%h the?idrer Soldiers fall into 'ater is quite fast and it must ha+e a *it #ainful for the stuntman to do.&here is also a *it more deal of fighting off suit from the a%tors in this e#isode.

Sheseems no longer %old and distant to'ards humans. 3ts sho'n she has *een li+ing 'ith a foster family'hi%h had ado#ted her. &he ra%e to find the 00 !igel /ura00 *rings out the %om#etiti+e side of /hames./s she seemly *etrays iluke to get the 00!igel /ura00 herself./fter'ards5 an interesting %lima4
