Rules and Regulations
1. Entries should be postmarked by July 3rd, unless specified otherwise. The address is Cobleskill
Agricultural Society, PO Box 249, Cobleskill NY 12043.
2. Late entries, where accepted, will be accepted thru July 10 at an additional charge of $10.
3. Entry fee is 10% of first premiums or $7 minimum, unless specified otherwise.
4. In accordance with the bylaws of the Cobleskill Agricultural Society, Schoharie County resident exhibitors
18 years of age or older have the option to purchase a $55 6-Day Voting Membership Pass in lieu of the
$20 6-Day Exhibitor Pass. Wherever a 6-Day Exhibitor Pass is specified, it shall also be understood to read
a 6-Day Youth Exhibitor Pass if the exhibitor is 17 years or under.
5. In order to qualify for the purchase of a 6-day exhibitor pass, exhibitors must make a minimum of 3
entries in one or more of Departments 5, 8, 9, 10 where an exhibitor fee is required. One exhibitor pass
allowed per exhibitor.
6. No passes will be mailed. All passes will be distributed by the Department Superintendents upon delivery
of items for judging.
7. Submission of an entry implies the exhibitor has read and agrees to the Fair’s General Rules and
Regulations and the Department’s Rules and Regulations.
8. All entries in this department are in the Country Living Building.
9. Entries, excluding foods and all floral arrangements, will be accepted on Sunday, 2-7 p.m., and Monday,
2-7 p.m, July 29-30th
.
10. Judging will be done on Tuesday, July 31.
11. Foods and all flower arrangements (Section 31-35 only) will be accepted on Sunday, August 5th before
the fair, 2-7 p.m. Judging will be done on Monday, August 6th.
12. Competition is open to all.
13. All exhibits, with the exception of antiques, must be entered in the name of the bona fide maker of the
article.
14. Collections must be made of articles not competing for other premiums.
15. In awarding premiums, special attention will be given to cleanliness, neatness, workmanship, and style of
article exhibited.
16. Special attention should be paid to the correct classification of articles entered for premiums and the
attaching of entry tags to the corresponding class numbers.
17. No judge shall be permitted to enter exhibits in competition for premiums in the department with which
they are connected.
18. There is no limit on the number of entries permitted by any one person in a single class, but no exhibitor
shall be allowed to receive more than two premiums for any one class.
19. PLEASE NOTE: Due to the extended length of the Fair, fresh flowers may become deteriorated. These
will be removed at the sole discretion of the Superintendent and/or Director in Charge. Exhibitors may
replace deteriorated items (although it is not necessary). Exhibitors will be responsible for any
admission fees to the fairgrounds when replacing items.
20. All items in Sections 1, 2, 3 and 4 must be framed and ready for hanging with picture wire.
21. No articles may be removed before Monday, the day following the fair’s Sunday night closing. Articles
must be removed between 2 and 7pm on Monday. No entries can be picked up without claim stub. No
exceptions. Any articles not picked up will become property of the fair unless prior arrangements have
been made.
22. Many sections allow unlisted categories to be exhibited. On the original entry blanks, write the type or
classification of items to be exhibited.
23. Any diorama for this building must not exceed card table size.

SECTION 6 – ANTIQUES
• NO LATE ENTRIES.
• If an antique object requires two units as it is
normally used, it must be displayed in that
manner. As an example: a cup and saucer is
treated as one exhibit or one piece. Also if a
pair is listed, this is only one exhibit. Best
condition may be considered in judging.
• Items must be at least 50 years old to be
considered an antique; items not 50 years old
will be disqualified by the judge. Same items
may not be entered in consecutive years.
Previously entered exhibits are accepted in this
section after a period of two years.

brought to the Fairgrounds on Sunday before
the fair start from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. JUDGING

Rules & Regulations
• Fresh flowers should be “hardened off” before arranging. Cut at least 2 hours before arranging, place fresh
cut flowers in warm water, then arrange in stem holding media.
• Arrange fresh, dried, and silk flowers in stem holding media. (e.g. water, water absorbing blocks, dried flower
block, etc.)
• Silk flowers already arranged on one stem when purchased and placed in a vase will be disqualified.
• Use clean containers.
• Each exhibitor is responsible for maintaining the quality of their exhibit for the duration of the Fair. You may
bring fresh flowers to the Country Living building on Tuesday to refresh your floral entries. Exhibitors will be

SECTION 34 – FLORAL DESIGN
Rules & Regulations
• Fresh flowers should be “hardened off” before arranging. Cut at least 2 hours before arranging, place fresh
cut flowers in warm water, then arrange in stem holding media.
• Arrange fresh, dried, and silk flowers in stem holding media. (e.g. water, water absorbing blocks, dried flower
block, etc.)
• Silk flowers already arranged on one stem when purchased and placed in a vase will be disqualified.
• Use clean containers.
• Each exhibitor is responsible for maintaining the quality of their exhibit for the duration of the Fair. You may
bring fresh flowers to the Country Living building on Tuesday to refresh your floral entries. Exhibitors will be
responsible for any admission fees to the fairgrounds.

SECTION 35 – SPECIAL TABLE SETTINGS
• Each exhibitor to bring his own card table approximately 48" square or round.
• Each table shall include a covering (plastic, linen, lace, etc), dishes (does not need to be china) and floral
centerpiece. Other decorations are optional.
• No silverware. Plastic utensils acceptable.
• Attach a 5 x 7 card stating the occasion or theme.
• Judging is based on color, theme and originality.
• Rosette given for Best of Show in this section.
