Malabar Cancer Centre, Thalassery Department of Community Oncology

Activities for the month of December 2011.

There were 1 tobacco awareness campaign,6 cancer awareness camps,6 ECDC camps, and 4 training

programs for volunteers as part of the project “ASWAS”.

1. Dec 2nd: Anti tobacco campaign at Palayad higher secondary school on Dec 2nd for 10th, 11th, 12th

class students. Around 150 students participated. Dr Neethu and Dr Phinse conducted the program.

2. Dec 3rd: Cancer awareness class at cheruvanchery by Dr Phinse.

3. Dec 5,6,8,9 :ECDC camps as part of the comprehensive cancer control project at Peralassery

panchayath. camps were held at PHC Peralassery,GHSS Peralassery,RDC centre mavilayi,and

Macreni.4 suspicious cases were detected at the camp.(1 oral cavity,2 breast and 1 gynaec cases)

4. Dec 15th: Cancer awareness class at peringathoor by Dr Neethu.

5. Dec 17th: cancer awareness class for nursery school teachers trainees at vocational training school,

Thalassery by Dr Neethu.

6. Dec 20th: ECDC camp at Kallikandy by MSS. Dr Surij took the class and DR Neethu conducted the

camp.

7. Dec 22nd: volunteer training program as part of the cancer prevention project at chorode

panchayath. 150 volunteers including college students participated. Dr Neethu and Dr Phinse

conducted the training program.

8. Dec 24th : cancer awareness class at Maniyoor PHC as part of volunteer training . Dr Phinse took the

class.

9. Dec 27th : volunteer training program as part of the comprehensive cancer and life style disease

control project “ASWAS” organized by zilla panchayath, saksharatha mission, district medical office,

and Malabar cancer centre at mangattidam gramapanchayath. Dr Neethu and Dr Phinse conducted

the training. 120 volunteers participated in the training.

10. Dec 28th : volunteer training program as part of the comprehensive cancer and life style disease

control project “ASWAS” organized by zilla panchayath, saksharatha mission, district medical office,

and Malabar cancer centre at Mayyil gramapanchayath. Dr Neethu and Dr Phinse conducted the

training. 92 volunteers participated in the training.

11. Dec 29th : volunteer training program as part of the comprehensive cancer and life style disease

control project “ASWAS” organized by zilla panchayath, saksharatha mission, district medical office,

and Malabar cancer centre at Chokli gramapanchayath. Dr Neethu and Dr Phinse conducted the

training. 100 volunteers participated in the training.

12. Dec 30th: Cervical cancer detection camp at science park ,Kannur. Project is organisd by KSACS.camp

conducted by Dr Neethu.
