Conference descriptionKentucky Children’s Hospital Contemporary Pediatrics Conference is designed to provide current information on a variety of medical and surgical conditions affecting infants, children and adolescents. Outstanding faculty of Kentucky Children’s Hospital will offer presentations and concurrent sessions on a variety of topics.
Learning objectivesUpon conclusion of this program, you will be able to:
• Develop strategies for recognition, screening and management of life-threatening conditions.
• Review clinical case presentations of infectious diseases.
• Examine mechanisms of pediatric physical injury.
• Review pediatric specialty problems seen in the primary care setting.
Intended audienceThe Kentucky Children’s Hospital Contemporary Pediatrics conference is designed for pediatricians, pediatric specialists, family medicine physicians, pediatric nurse practitioners, family medicine nurse practitioners, physicians in resident training, nurses and physician assistants.

Date and locationThe Kentucky Children’s Hospital Contemporary Pediatrics conference will be held May 17 – 19, 2012. Thursday’s activities will be held at Spindletop Hall. Friday’s and Saturday’s activities will be held at the Griffin Gate Marriott Resort & Spa in Lexington. The Marriott is conveniently located just off Interstate 64/75 on Newtown Pike. Free access to the concierge lounge will be offered to overnight guests and their families.

Other eventsThursday pre-conference 7:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.Advanced Pediatric Life Support (APLS) will be offered for an additional charge of $300 on Thursday, May 17, 2012, at the Griffin Gate Marriott.
The APLS course focuses on the evaluation, diagnosis and initiation of treatment of many pediatric medical and surgical emergencies during the time the patient’s condition is being stabilized in the clinic or emergency department. Major topics to be addressed include pediatric assessment, pediatric airway, central nervous system, medical emergencies, cardiovascular system and trauma. Skill stations on advanced-airway and advanced-trauma procedures will be included. Limited to 25 registrants. Although this course is designed for physicians, other disciplines are encouraged to attend. Please register as early as possible in order to receive materials by mail prior to the course.
