Notes for James Richardson:General Notes: James was the youngest child of James Cope Richardson and Louise Townsend Bakewell Richardson. As a child, James lived in Borocup House, built by his father in 1885 in Lichfield, England. He left Borocup House to live in the Mill House with his wife Annie Burtt. The family photograph taken outside Borocup House in 1910 includes the children and grandchildren of James and Louise.

James was in the milling business with his father and traveled extensively by ship to Western Canada on business. On one of his trips he visited his son John Buckland Richardson in Stirling, Ontario.

In late 1922, James retired from "Millennium Mills and Wharf' and bought Wren House, built by Sir Christopher Wren in Warminster. James and Annie lived there until 1937.

James was an artist of some talent and enjoyed antique collecting. He made many etchings, including one of his mother on her 80th birthday, several of the interior and exterior of Wren House and several of Cathedrals in England.

In 1937, James and Annie came to Canada and the United States to visit their sons John in Toronto and Henry in Passaic. After six months James returned to England to sell Wren House and ship their furnishings to Toronto, where they had purchased a house. He even shipped his printing press, but it was never used as in less than a year James died of a cerebral hemorrhage.

Annie Holmes Burtt daughter of Henry Burtt of Fulbeck and Annie Holmes[12] was born in Dec 1874 in Newark, Lincolnshire, Nottinghamshire, United Kingdom[12]. She died in 1970 in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.

Notes for Annie Holmes Burtt:General Notes: Annie Holmes Burtt's parents and grandparents were Quakers. Her grandfather, William Daubeney Holmes was a Civil Engineer and Naval Architect of some note. Her father was Henry Burtt, a farmer and devout Quaker who regularly attended Friends Meetings for worship and for discipline until his death at the age of 95. (see "The Burtts - A Lincolnshire Quaker Family")

Annie Holmes Burtt married James Richardson, son of James Cope Richardson at Fulbeck Church (Anglican) in Lincolnshire. Her older sister, Henrietta Mary was married in a Quaker Service at Broughton Meeting House in 1895 to Henry Richardson, son of James Cope and brother to James.

Annie Holmes Burtt and James Richardson had three children who survived, John Buckland, Henry Burtt, Margaret and a twin born prematurely when Annie was home alone. She told her granddaughter, Phyllis, she could only save one twin and chose the biggest baby.

Margaret emigrated to South Africa with her husband Godfrey Thomas. Annie twice visited her daughter when she was ill, travelling alone by sea for several weeks and was sea sick most of the time.

Annie also visited her Canadian grandchildren, her son John Buckland's family in Belleville, Ontario when the twins, Phyllis and Peggy and John were young children.

After James died in 1937 in Toronto, Annie remained in their home with the companionship of her two granddaughters, Phyllis and Peggy who lived with her alternately until 1942 when Phyllis enlisted in the Royal Canadian Air Force (Women's Division) and Peggy went into training as a nurse.

Annie Holmes Burtt Richardson, or Granny, as she was known by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, lived independently in an apartment for some years. After which, she shared the home of her son John Buckland and his wife Edith. When she was 89 years old Annie came to live with her granddaughter Phyllis and her husband Bob in their home and remained there until her death in February 1970 at the age of 96.

Granny was greatly loved by all who know her. She was always patient, uncomplaining and tolerant. She remained a Quaker at heart, although she attended the Anglican Church with her husband

Annie never returned to England but kept up correspondence with her daughter, Margaret, and grandson, Douglas in South Africa, her niece "Tommy" in England and her sister Henrietta in New Jersey until she was in her 90's. She had good health, except for arthritis, until her death of heart failure.

Notes for John Buckland Richardson:General Notes: John Buckland Richardson was the eldest of three children of James and Annie Holmes Burtt Richardson. In 1917, he enlisted in the Royal Air Force. He was trained as a pilot and soon after was shot down over Germany, where he was detained in a prison camp for six months until the end of the war. After working in London for three years, he immigrated to Canada. His bride-to-be Edith Annie Everard followed soon after.

They lived and worked on a dairy farm near Stirling, Ontario for two years - not finding it an easy life. After the twins, Phyllis and Peggy were born, they moved to Belleville, Ontario, a small town nearby where John was born, 14 months after the twins.

In 1927, John, Edith and their family moved to Passaic, New Jersey, where they lived and worked with Hubert Richardson until 1933. While living in Passaic, their youngest daughter, Joanne, was born. They then returned to Canada and settled in Toronto, Ontario where John Buckland operated a heating business.

When the war broke out in 1939, John Buckland enlisted in the Royal Canadian Air Force as a recruiting officer. He remained in the Air Force for six years while stationed in Victoria, British Columbia, Winnipeg, Manitoba and Debert, Nova Scotia. After his discharge in 1946, he returned to his former career as a heating engineer for 25 years until his retirement.

John and his wife, Edith, spend many happy summers at their cottage north of Toronto on Horseshoe Lake. John Buckland died at 73 from cancer of the liver.

Edith Annie Everard[17] was born in Dec 1893 in Chelmsford, Essex, United Kingdom[17]. She died in 1986 in Toronto, Ontario Canada.

Notes for Edith Annie Everard:General Notes: Edith Annie Everard was born in Chelmsford, England in 1893. In 1920, she left England to come to Canada to marry John Buckland Richardson. She left behind her parents, two brothers and one sister.

During the early years of their marriage money was scarce and she was never able to visit England in spite of being very homesick. She was very happy when in her 90's a nephew and wife came to visit her from Chelmsford.

Edith never worked outside the house, but she helped her husband in his business and raised four children during the hard financial times of the Depression. When John Buckland enlisted in the Royal Canadian Air Force in 1939 and was stationed far from Toronto, she remained in their home until he returned. They bought a summer property soon after on Horseshoe Lake in the Haliburton Highland and frequently travelled to Florida for winter vacations.

Notes for Margaret Richardson:General Notes: Margaret was born, one of twins, when her mother Annie Holmes Richardson was alsone at home, as James Richardson was away at the time. The twins were premature, one died and Margaret, the surviving twin was very small and sickly. She suffered from heart and kidney problems most of her life.

Margaret married Godfrey Thomas, an old family friend in England. They emmigrated to South Africa. Godfrey had received a grant of land to farm in South Africa for his services in World War I. He was a captain in the army, and suffered leg injuries during the war.

Margaret lost two infants at birth in South Africa. Then when pregnant again went to England for a few months where Douglas was born in good health.

Godfrey married for the second time shortly after his wife's death from heart problems. His second wife, also called Margaret, had been a friend of the James Richardson's in England. She had been married before and had a daughter by her first marriage.

Godfrey Thomas was born in 1897. He died in 1977.

Robert, a British immigrant from Yorkshire, was a member of the RCAF Military Police. After the war, they settled in Toronto where they purchased a house in 1947 where Phyllis still lives today. They have three sons, Robert, David and Peter.

In 1975 Phyllis starting studying at Glendon College of York University as a 'mature student' graduating in 1979 majoring in Sociology.

He and Phyllis have travelled to Mexico, England, Zimbabwe and Australia, visiting relatives or their children. They also enjoyed a visit to Korea and Japan in the 1970's as part of a business trip of Bob's.

Bob enjoyed his garden until his last year when failing health required that he move to Meighan Manor, a nursing home where he died in April, 2006 just after the birth of his first great-grandchild, a boy named Jack, son of Jennifer.

David has held various positions in Quality Assurance, Tire Development and Sales with Seiberling and Computer Systems, Corporate Planning and Government Relations with Goodyear Canada. David retired from Goodyear in 2001 and subsequently joined a Rubber Industry Association where he worked until the end of 2006. David is currently retired but still doing some part time consulting in the Tire Industry in Canada.

Notes for Lynne Marie Beare:General Notes: Lynne was born in 1947 in Port Perry, Ontario, a small town about an hour's drive outside of Toronto. She attended public and high school there.

From 1966 to 1968, Lynne attended the University of Western Ontario in London, Ontario where she majored in Home Economics with a view to a teaching career. In September of 1968, Lynne changed her mind and moved to Toronto where she took a six-month Accelerated Business Certificate course at Shaw Colleges.

In March of 1969, Lynne joined the Ontario Provincial Government as a clerical-stenographer with the Department of Tourism and Information in the Travel Research Branch. After 11 years with this branch in various positions of increasing responsibility, Lynne took a position with the Ministry of Consumer and Commercial Relations in the Technical Standards Division as an Examination Control Officer. After working her way up to Office Administrator, in 1988, she switched careers and moved tothe Systems Administrator position for the Division's mini-computer system. Lynne held various positions within the Division's computer section until the Division was outsourced in 1996 and became the Technical Standards and Safety Authority. Lynne retired in 1998. At the beginning of 1999, Lynne went back to work on contract for the Authority as a Systems Analyst until she retired again in April 2002.

Lynne has become quite involved in her church, leading Sunday services, holding various positions on the Official Board and also leading monthly worship at a nearby nursing home. In order to gain more knowledge, Lynne enrolled in the Lay Certificate in Theology at Emmanuel College, the United Church of Canada's seminary at the University of Toronto.

In 1980, Lynne married David Charles Lamb. Their daughter, Carolyn Marie was born in 1983. Lynne and David are still living in the same house they bought when they were married. Now that they are both retired, they like to travel, especially cruising, and to spend more time at their cottage on Lake Belwood which in only about one and a half hours drive from the house.
