Introduction, aims and welcome Dear new, Level 3 Sport students, the work I will be setting you aims to develop your understanding of the subject of Sport, sport structure as different roles in sport as a sports coach and exercise science with Anatomy & Physiology. The work you do over the coming weeks will greatly improve your readiness to learn at A level and will provide you with the knowledge and skills that will provide a solid platform to begin your A levels. We will also be looking closely and monitoring how much effort and commitment you have towards your work to give us a good indicator of who would cope or not cope on our level 3 Sport course, so please be fully engaged during these difficult times and if there are any questions, you must put a post on TEAMS. We will always post the deadline on TEAMS and send reminders making sure this is really clear and we will normally give you 1 week to submit and upload to TEAMs, we will then mark/check content and give it back to you to make corrections to then re-submit work, which is exactly how we manage work when you start you’re a levels. So we will follow this process:
(A) Work to be completed = 1 week to complete draft (B) Work then marked and given back for corrections = 1 week to do corrections & re-submit
as final. Please note if you miss a deadline on this course to submit the draft, we then only accept the work as a final. Important note – Draft deadlines are not extended.

ROLE - “the function assumed or part played by a person or thing in a particular situation”. Use each of the bullet points above as a subheading for a paragraph. Therefore in total I will be expecting 5 short paragraphs with an explanation of how the point is vital for a sports coach/activity leader and give a sporting example of how this might work. I have given an example below to help get you started: Role model- This is someone that is supportive towards you and helps you to achieve your goals. As
well, they will motivate and it’s someone that you aspire to be like, as it helps you to work harder
because you are getting a goal for yourself (to be like them). It’s like placing someone in a high position
and admiring them. An example of this is my badminton coach, as they always support me and assist
me in achieving. They are someone who is patient and has good knowledge of the sport, which they are
willing to share with their students, helping them to achieve and become the best of their ability.

Below is an example to help get you started: Sets agreed ground rules- This is a responsibility, as it makes sure that everyone is safe and happy when
learning from the coaches. As well, it makes sure that there aren’t any serious injuries or anything that
could prevent the session from taking place. For example, a rule in badminton that prohibits people
from walking on a badminton court while a game is taking place. If they were to step on the court, there
is a risk of them being hit by another player, which could cause a serious injury. These rules are set by
coaches and leaders to help maintain a high level of respect between players and coaches while
keeping everyone safe and without risks. It also helps the game to be more enjoyable as the risks
shouldn’t be there anymore.
