Vision and goals Create an educational, therapeutic and rehabilitation house to accommodate youth at

risk Familial atmosphere with a quality of life and a connection to the desert life style Connecting the desert and nature to Shanti House’s therapeutic model Assisting more youth with a variety of means Drug, alcohol and violence prevention center Creating jobs for the Negev residents

Uniqueness of the program Emphasis on planning and construction to provide a unique and relaxing atmosphere The house will be a focal point for youth from all over Israel A “green village” emphasizing the preservation of the environment, utilizing local and

recycled materials, water and garbage recycling, utilizing solar and wind energy

Therapeutic horse back riding

Therapeutic horse ranch will serve the youth on the professional, personal, therapeutic and social level

Therapeutic experience proves that therapy with animals improves and contributes to the therapy process

with youth

Proximity to a live, sensitive and non judgmental creature enables the youth to create a human connection,

which develops emotional tools for personal empowerment

Riding improves listening and concentration skills, as well as balance, social skills, high self esteem and

more

Therapeutic riding as a tool for growth, a youth could become a qualified “riding instructor” and receive a

professional tool for later on in life

Solution for youth, who require therapeutic riding in the South (Sderot, Mitzpe Ramon, Dimona, Netivot)

The ranch will provide riding lessons to youth from the area

The horse ranch will serve as a link between the village and the community

Desert Shanti – therapeutic ranch & experience Very few therapeutic ranches and long waiting lists indicate the necessity for a therapeutic ranch in the northern

Negev

The ranch will award riding scholarships to excelling students in the South and will encourage excellence among

youth

During summer vacation the ranch will hold subsidized summer camps for residents of the South

The summer camps and community activity will promote the educational connection between the village youth

and the community

The village youth will learn about giving and receiving and acquire social and communal tools for life

Organized riding trips for the village youth, various distances adapted to age groups

The learning youth at the animal corner will operate on the following levels

Personal nurturing

Lectures to visitors on different animals

Educational tours: zoos, other animal corners etc’

Bonding activities at the animal corner

Animal corner maintenance

Study with the aid of science teachers

Educational and study goals of animal corner

Work education – personal responsibility, cleanliness and order, cooperation,

work ethics

Nature studies – caring, grooming, nurturing and sanitation

Personal development – being articulate, learning to express

Enhancing self confidence – creates personal pride towards the environment
