*Farmer’s Market from RJR Fabrics; Warm & Natural cotton batting from The Warm Company used to make sample.

Step 5. Sew the center row between the top and bottom rows to complete the pieced center as shown in Figure 4; press seams toward the center row.

Step 6. Fold each E square twice on the diagonal and press to make four E tri-angles as shown in Figure 5; pin to hold the folded edges together.

Step 7. Repeat Step 6 with the G squares.Step 8. Center and baste an E triangle to each B-C unit on each side of the pieced center as shown in Figure 6.

TaBlE MaTI N S T R U C T I O N SCompleting the Pieced TopStep 1. Prepare templates for B and C/CR pieces using patterns given; cut as directed on each piece.Step 2. Sew C and CR to B to make a B-C unit as shown in Figure 1; press seams toward C and CR. Repeat to make a total of four B-C units.

Step 3. Sew a B-C unit to opposite sides of A to make the center row as shown in Figure 2; press seams toward A.

Step 4. Sew D to opposite sides of the remaining two B-C units to make the top and bottom rows as shown in Figure 3; press seams toward D.

Step 9. Sew an F triangle to each side of the pieced center as shown in Figure 7; press seam toward the pieced cen-ter and the E triangles flat on top of F, again referring to Figure 7.

Step 10. Center and baste a G triangle between the F triangles as shown in Figure 8.

Clip into inside corners and trim tips of outer corners as shown in Figure 10.

Step 4. Turn right side out through the opening; press edges flat.Step 5. Turn the opening edges to the inside 1/4" and press. Hand- or machine-stitch opening closed.Step 6. Quilt in the ditch of seams and around fruits and vegetables to hold the layers together to finish.

PlaCE MaTSI N S T R U C T I O N S Completing the Pieced TopsStep 1. To make one place-mat top, sew K and KR to J to make a J-K unit as shown in Figure 11; press seams toward K and KR. Repeat to make a total of four J-K units.

Step 2. Sew L to M along the diagonal to make an L-M unit as shown in Figure 12; press seam toward L. Repeat to make a total of four L-M units.

Step 3. Sew a J-K unit to opposite sides of I to complete the center row as shown in Figure 13; press seams toward I.Step 4. Sew an L-M unit to opposite sides of each remaining J-K unit to make the top and bottom rows refer-ring to Figure 14; press seams toward L-M units.Step 5. Sew the center row between the top and bottom rows to complete the pieced center as shown in Figure 15; press seams toward the center row.

Stitch in the ditch around the individual pieces and around the larger fruit and vegetable shapes to anchor the fabrics and prevent batting migration.

Step 6. Fold each N square as in Step 6 of Table Mat, completing the pieced top and referring to Figure 5 to make folded triangles.Step 7. Center and baste an N triangle to two opposite J-K units as shown in Figure 16.

Step 8. Sew an O piece to the basted N sides of the pieced center as shown in Figure 17; press seams away from O with the N triangles flat on top of O.

Step 9. Trim each corner of O at a 45-degree angle as shown in Figure 18 to complete one place-mat top.

Step 10. Repeat Steps 2–9 to complete a second place-mat top.

Completing the Place Mats Step 1. Using the 22" x 15" batting and backing rectangles, finish each place mat referring to Completing the Table Mat to finish. QW
