Design Guidelines
• Use parallel edges if possible. • Avoid narrow sections and small holes (weak tool).
– Hole diameter >20% stock thickness. For SS, use 2x. – Notches and tabs: W > 1.5T, L < 5T
• Thickness between 0.1 mm - 16 mm • Use planes, cylinders or cones in bend area. • General rule: Inside bend radius equal to material
thickness. For 6061, use 6x material thickness. • Parts will lengthen during bending due to plastic
deformation. Look up “K” factor for more info.
