Standard water systems operate with a 20 PSI differential between cut-in and cut-out, the waterin the tank is flushed out and replenished everypump cycle, thus greatly reducing the risk of stagnant water in the tank.

Newer constant pressure water systems bringthe pump up to speed very quickly by operating onmuch lower differential pressures, as little as 2-5PSI. This means stored water is never ful lyexchanged, only diluted with new system water.This creates the possibility of stagnant water remain-ing in the pressure tank for extended periods.
