VOLTAGE VOLTAGE

Voltage selection f or  the design of transmission line depends on the f ollowing f actor s:

power  to be transmitted .

Length of the transmission line.Power f actor .

Permissible loading & stability Permissible loading & stability

limitslimits SIL of the line is the  power delivered by the  line  to  purely resistive load equal in value to the surge

im pedance of line, Surge is the motion of charge in conductor .

Surge im pedance is characteristic im pedance of line.

Surge im pedance is independent  of the line.

The load at which the inductive & capacitive (var)

are equal & opposite is called SIL of the line.

SELECTION OFSELECTION OFCONDUCTORSCONDUCTORS

Properties of conductor material

ACSR conductor s1. Corona losses reduced

2. Steel core  provides long s pan and

mechanical strength . Sk in eff ect.

Conductor  chosen ACSR is LYNX of Dia 90.53 mm.

2. Condition of conductor sur f ace.3. Atmos pheric conditions.

Factor s used f or  controlling corona

1. Voltage of the line.

2. S pacing between the conductor s.

3. Conductor diameter . Use of bundle conductor  to reduce corona.
