The My Downloads section will give you the option to download the latest Release versions, Pre-Releaseversions or Older versions of the software. The latest releases are the most stable versions to date, whereas the Pre-Release versions hasn't been tested thoroughly yet.

To quickly determine what type of installation kit it is, the installation executable will be named as:

PID_Setup_#.#.####.###.exe for the Setup kit, orPID_Update_#.#.####.###.exe for the Update kit.

The #.#.####.### is the version of the application included.

The DesSoft P&ID Setup kit contains both the DesSoft P&ID application as well as the default structureswhereas the Upgrade installation kit only contains the DesSoft P&ID application. The structures areneeded to open a Sample Project or to build a project from using the default System Project structure.

1.3 Licensing

When starting up the application, you might notice in the lower right hand corner a red box containingthe words evaulation in it:

Figure 5: Evaluation mode.

This might be because your are either not logged into a project, or the application doesn't have a license.

If is it licensing, the two most common licensing methods are either:

Network license, orLocal license

Depending on your requirement, you can choose between them, or both.

When logged into the Client Zone, the user can generate either multiple license for the Concurrent UserManager (C.U.M.) to use as Network Licenses, or a single license to use as a Local License in thespecific application. The license(s) can be selected on the first screen (Figure 6) and, after clicking next, the license database can be updated (Figure 7).

Note: The generated code is dynamic and can be used only once for your security.

The activation code can also be copied and used immediately and used in the C.U.M., specificapplication or even sent via email via your own browser.

The license is also validated on the application side. The proxy settings can be set-up in DesSoft P&ID

Figure 8: Setting P&ID proxy information.

1.3.1 Network License

The Network license is a license based on the server/client model. The Concurrent User Manager (C.U.M.) is the server application that listens for licensing requests from the DesSoft applications. Once anspecific application type requests a license, an available license is granted across the e.g. Local AreaNetwork. The C.U.M. can be installed on any workstation or server that has an internet connection.

Figure 9: Typical network licensing layout.

The C.U.M. handles all licensing requests made by the client applications and requires a workinginternet connection every set amount of minutes. The connection only checks if it must update thecurrent assigned licenses, or book back a previously assigned local license. The amount of traffic is onlya few bytes.

The license code generated can be activated in the C.U.M. by clicking in the menu on the Activatebutton. This will open the Activate Licenses window wherein you can paste the license code andActivate it on the C.U.M.

The C.U.M. will check if the code is linked to the license server and the license will be added to thelicenses layout.

Note: If a proxy is being used, please enter the proxy settings via the Options menu button.

Once the C.U.M. is set-up, the DesSoft P&ID application settings can be changed to point to the C.U.M.and use the network license option.

Click on the Project button in the top left hand corner. Select the Help button and click on the Connectto LAN License Server button (Figure 10). Enter either the Host name of the C.U.M. (if DHCP is used) orenter the IP address to it (Figure 11).
