In between visits to Shakespeare’s family homes, hunt for treasures in the vibrant mix of independent, boutique and high street stores of Stratford’s pretty town centre. From the atmospheric Abbey towering over winding cobbled streets to the windswept beach and working harbour. Whitby’s sweeping, sandy Blue Flag beach is the perfect place for families to spend an afternoon. Little ones will enjoy rock pooling with a fishing net and bucket to store their newly found treasures, or catching crabs off the pier or visiting the Lifeboat Museum which recalls the many heroic rescues since the lifeboat was first stationed in Whitby in 1826. Look out for great local produce including artisan bread, cakes and sweet treats and locally brewed beers. Don’t forget to pick up a bar of the world famous Kendal Mint Cake! Be tantalised by the sights and smells at 1657 Chocolate House, their oldest chocolate shop or visit the traditional café and shop at Farrer’s of Kendal, one of the oldest coffee roasting and blending shops in the country, or if there’s time why not visit Kendal Museum, one of the oldest museums in the UK and home to one of the largest taxidermy collections in Europe.
Following the morning in Kendal we’re back on board for our afternoon visit to Bowness-on-Windermere. Originally a small fishing village Bowness dates back to the 15th century. Victorian
architecture is prominent and thanks to the boating services available from Bowness the area has maintained its position as a tourist destination for over 150 years. England’s largest natural lake, Windermere, is the main draw of Bowness and Windermere.
Bowness has a long high street that stretches down to the lakeshore. Here you will find a few well known high street brands, with art galleries, antique shops, independent gift shops, and local artisan food producers. The wonderful World of Beatrix Potter is also in Bowness, where Peter Rabbit and his friends are brought to life in a magical world of 3D scenes. Outside there is a delightful garden where herbs, plants, and vegetables that were popular in Potter’s time are grown.

The limestone headland, whose name means 'sea monster', has ancient origins and protected nature reserve status. Take an enchanting guided walk up to the top, head to the summit on the Great Orme Tramway, search for species (you can't miss the goats!) or expand your knowledge in the visitor's centre.

Today we’re off to the seaside to Skegness, one of Britain’s first traditional seaside resorts. The
beach is the place to go for award-winning water quality, clean sands, family attractions and fun-
filled adventures. Walk along the front and family friendly attractions – go-karting, ten-pin bowling,
funfairs and crazy golf are just some of the activities that will keep you entertained. If you want to
kick back and relax then the Compass Gardens is a great place to sit and watch the world go by.
Skegness Pier is the place for traditional family fun. No visit to Skegness is complete without a
walk through the Pier and out onto its decking.
If you and the kids are fans of rollercoasters and white-knuckle rides then you will love spending the day at Fantasy Island, located in Ingoldmells just a short drive from Skegness. Away from the rides, Fantasy Island is also home to Europe’s largest 7-day market. Here you can buy everything from gifts to toys. THURSDAY 22ND ELY AND CAMBRIDGE £22.00 £18.00 Our first port of call today is to Ely with its Cathedral dominating the skyline, it is one of England's most beautiful and largest Cathedrals. Known locally as the 'Ship of the Fens' it is famous for its unique Octagon tower, which when lit can be seen for tens of miles. The Cathedral is also home to the only national museum dedicated to Stained Glass. If it's history you're interested in then Ely Museum, housed in the city's old gaol, is an excellent place to start. Ely has a beautiful waterside area, which is an attraction within itself, where you can explore the many cafes and restaurants or visit the art galleries, or relax and watch the river boats pass by. We spend the rest of the day in Cambridge, the country’s most beautiful historic city. With its architecture, green spaces and home to the University of Cambridge’s world-famous colleges. Pay a visit to King's College Chapel, It is the largest and most spectacular of the college chapels in Cambridge. Enjoy the Fitzwilliam Museum, the arts and antiquities museum, take a stroll around the exhibition space at Kettle's Yard or enjoy taking in the best in contemporary arts at the city's many independent galleries. You can admire the picturesque waters of the River Cam and gaze in wonder at the Bridge of Sighs at St John’s and the Mathematical Bridge at Queens. Cambridge is a compact city with a choice of boutiques and independent shops as well as high street brands, certainly giving plenty for you to do.

All trips are timed approximately a week prior to travel and we will ring you with pickup
times. Unfortunately there are times when not enough have booked on a trip and we
have to cancel due to low numbers, if this is the case we will advise you of the
cancellation as soon as possible and offer a transfer or refund.
General Day Trip conditions: Seating: Seat allocation is not guaranteed and is based on a first come first served basis. If you request a particular seat we will do our best to accommodate you. Cancellations: We reserve the right to cancel any excursion caused by events beyond our control (eg technical problems to transport, industrial disputes, war or threat of war, riots and civil strife, terrorist activity, natural disaster, fire, or any other unpredictable events). We also reserve the right to withdraw a trip due to low booking numbers at which point we will offer a transfer or refund. If you, the Customer wish to cancel, the company is under no obligation to make a refund or exchange. Smoking: No smoking (including vapour devices) is allowed on any of our vehicles.
