Sample Yosemite / Mariposa County Tour Itinerary: Spring – 2 nights and 3 days

Day One - Historic Mariposa Receiving its name for the thousands of butterflies that arrive every spring. The regions comes alive with a stunning array of not just butterflies but also the colorful wildflowers they love to visit.Travel through the San Joaquin Valley on Hwy 99 and exit in Merced, taking Hwy 140 to enjoy the climb into the foothills where the wild flowers are in breathtaking full bloom.

12:00 pm Arrive in Mariposa in time for lunch in Historic Downtown Mariposa.1:00 pm California State Mining and Mineral Museum. (This is a great time for your driver to drop luggage at your hotel)2:30 pm Mariposa Brewing Company Tasting and Tour - just a stroll across the parking lot from the museum3:30 pm Tour of the Mariposa County Courthouse and the Old Jail House4:30 pm Mariposa Gold Rush History Center and Museum5:30 pm Check-in. Whether you prefer modern creature comfort or relaxed country charm, Mariposa County offers accommodations for every style & budget. Day Two - Yosemite Valley8:00 am Breakfast at your hotel9:00 am Depart for the wonders of Yosemite. Enjoy the drive along scenic Hwy 140 “The All Season Motor Coach Highway” that follows the Merced River- known for its Class 3-4 White Water Rafting in late Spring & Summer.10:30 am Yosemite Valley Floor. As winter recedes, the park comes to life in dramatic fashion. Roaring waterfalls are at their peak. We suggest the 2 Hour Narrated Valley Tour or possibly contracting with a Step-On Guide for a complete overview of Yosemite and its wonders. 1:00 pm Group Buffet Lunch served in the Garden Terrace. Menu: Rainbow Trout & Grilled Chicken Breast. $15.00 incl (escort & driver, complimentary)2:00 pm Must See & Do: Free Time to explore the Ansel Adams Gallery, the Indian Museum, the Yosemite Cemetery, Indian Cultural Exhibit, Historical Post Office & Shopping for Yosemite Souvenirs. 4:30pm Check -in. Yosemite Lodge at the Falls. A splendid lodging choice to enjoy the full impact of the water falls surrounding Yosemite Valley and your hotel.

Day Three - Yosemite Valley8:00 am Breakfast at your hotel – Free time for shopping and a stroll before boarding your motor coach. Depart the Yosemite Valley on the Hwy 41 corridor. Don’t forget to stop by Inspiration Point (aka Tunnel View) for a stunning over view on your way out.9:30 am Wawona Pioneer History Center. Walk through a covered bridge to a self-guided tour of an era gone by. Look for the deer grazing on the only Golf Course located within a National Park.10:30 am Yosemite Mountian Sugar Pine Railroad. It’s “All Aboard” for a one hour narrated Steam Train excur- sion over rails once used for logging at the turn of the century. An outdoor barbecue awaits your return to the Station. Take time to walk through the Thornberry Museum, try your hand at Gold Panning, visit the Bookstore and don’t forget to pick up a few souvenirs in the Ticket Office Gift Shop.1:30 pm Depart Yosemite Mountain Sugar Pine Railroad, continuing south on Hwy 41 to the San Joaquin Valley.

Please note, if you are traveling from Southern California you may want to reverse this itinerary and spend your first night in Yosemite Valley at Yosemite Lodge and spend the second night in Historic Mariposa.
