At VEi, we follow strict equipment procurement practices. Our experienced consultantsmeet with the owner, project manager, facilities engineer and maintenance engineer toget specifi cations of what is wanted and needed. We meet with the facility engineers tolearn about the environment, weather conditions and general area of the project; and weget to know the people who work in the facility; this helps us better understand proceduresand the overall atmosphere of the project area.

At VEi, we begin the equipment procurement procedure by creating a detailed equipmentspecification with owner input. Next we complete the request for quotation and establisha preferred bidders list. Once the list is complete, pre-bid meetings with the owners andbidders are held; equipment requirements are explained, questions are answered andany issues are resolved. During this bidding phase, VEi provides support for questionsand clarifications. VEi then receives and analyzes the quotes from selected bidders andcompletes a comparison spreadsheet to assist in awarding contracts.

Our equipment tracking procedures include periodic supplier visits and qualitycontrol, along with verifying scheduled deliveries weekly. We also verify theequipment is being built to the correct specifications, and we review allequipment upon delivery to the construction site. VEi can also assistwith order writing and RFQ issuing.

Building Information Modeling (BIM) is a powerful method that provides a digitalrepresentation of the manufactured product or building process to facilitate exchangeand interoperability of information in digital format. This method is new to the designindustry and incorporates the latest 3D technologies to successfully design and constructprojects. The 3D softwares that will be used are CADWorx and Solidworks as describedbelow. By utilizing these 3D softwares, it will allow the client, designer, and constructorto communicate effectively. With the push of a button the model will also be used to create2D fabrication piece part drawings, Bill of Materials (BOMs), interference detection,and assistance during construction installation.

The CADWorx program will be used to complete a 3D model of the installation.CADWorx Plant can provide orthographic, isometric and 3D models. The CADWorxPlant suites supply the most complete range of tools for hassle-free plant design,piping, equipment, steel, HVAC and cable trays. CADWorx Plant allows you to workin 2D or 3D mode with full intelligence. Quick 2D plans can be converted into 3Dmodels at anytime. Because CADWorx Plant uses standard AutoCAD solids itdelivers some of the best performance, smallest models and greatestcompatibility in its class. No special enablers are required for viewing,plotting or even editing in native AutoCAD.

The Solidworks program will be used to complete a 3D model of the fabrication parts. Solidworks mechanical design automation software is a piece part based, dimensional relational, geometrical solid modeling design tool which takes advantage of the associative 3D solid models with or without the constraints while utilizing automatic or user defined relations to capture design intent.
